Voting in November

Do you plan to vote this November? Why or why not?

Do you vote a straight party ticket, or do you mix it up?

Do you vote all the way down the ballot, including federal office holders, state legislative candidates, mayor, city council, county council, local tax measures, etc.?

If you only vote on the top of the ticket, why or why not?

Do you vote when you don't know anything about the issue or candidates?

How do you get information that helps you decide who and what to vote for?

Finally, how do you feel about those phone calls from people asking you WHO you plan to vote for?

Yup, I'll vote. Already registered to have an absentee ballot mailed to me since I'm in college
I do it because voting is what you're supposed to do. It's that simple.
I definitely won't be voting straight ticket, but it'll be pretty close I expect. There is at least one candidate of the opposite party though that will definitely get my vote
I vote on everything, ESPECIALLY local stuff (I'm one of the few teenagers that showed up at town elections last March...). And I try not to vote uneducated. I get a lot of info just from paying attention to the news. My dad is also in town politics so that takes care of me being educated about town stuff. Also explains why it's been hammered into my head that "there is no choice. You vote. No complaints"
We don't get the phone calls. We're unlisted

I have never missed a local, state or federal election since I first became eligible to vote. I think all citizens have not only the right to vote, but the responsibility to do so. if you don't vote, you can't complain about the outcome.

I am very political, I make it my business to know who is running and what the issues are, even on the local level. especially on the local level. I had a poly sci professor who explained that local government has a much bigger impact on your daily life than the federal government has. I'm not sure that's accurate, but local government has a much larger role to play than most people seem to appreciate.

I usually vote party line, but have been known to cross the line if the opposing party's candidate is the better choice.

this year I will be voting for Elliot Spitzer, Hillary Clinton and Andrew Cuomo (gee, where do I live? ;) )

my big dilemma is on the local level. it's for NY State senate. the incumbent is a Republican, but he's done a wonderful job for the district and I've voted for him in every election up until now. the Democrats usually put up a "sacrificial lamb" against him, because they know they can't win the seat.

but this year, the senator has real competition. the Democratic candidate is a political neophyte who has never held office before. but she has a bachelor's degree from Harvard and a PhD in political Science from Stony Brook State University. very smart, very dedicated, will do a great job if elected.

and she's famous. you probably heard about her.
her life story was a television movie last year.

her name is Brooke Ellison. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0407612/
