In comedy circles it's referred to as a "call back", where a previous joke is referenced later on. It enhances the comedic quality of the entire experience.

So by "using your stuff" I'm actualy making you look funnier, as well as furthering the comedic dialogue.

Was that over your head? Should I draw a diagram?
