Vote - Time to tone down Contemporary rooms?

What would you do with the Comtemporary Guest Room styling

  • Keep the styling - I love it and would have it no other way.

  • Complete Re-do - tone it down while creating a more futuristic look

  • I dont care - it has no effect on me whatsoever

The room decor doesn't bother me at all. I like that the rooms are big and bright. :D

I vote no change, keep it as it is. We stayed there in May and liked the bold colors. My thoughts are even if half voted for change you still have half saying don't change. So how can they change anything? One of the great things about Disney is they have many different themed hotels. If you don't like one, then try a different one.

I personally think that the entire interior of the Contemporary should be done. My suggestion would be to do them in a clean, chic, "W Hotels" style. All the W Hotels have their own flavor, and CR still could too. The exterior of the hotel, although showing it's age, is classic. The interior decor has never lived up to the exterior IMO. I'd love to stay there, but wouldn't spend that kind of money to stay in a room that looks like it should be in an All-Star.

It should be redone with class all the way, only keeping the monorail lines and California Grill. Put luxury mattresses and linens in the rooms and keep them minimalist. Stay with neutral, peaceful tones.

I love the rooms as they are right now! I feel as though I am in the home of the Jetson's. It's great!! The lamps, the mirror, everything adds up to an atmosphere that is full of life and energy. :bounce:

Gotta disagree. If half of the people hate the room styling, then there is a problem. I dont think any other resort has this "loud" styling.

I think that they could take the decorating style from the CA Grill and apply it to the rooms, and it would work well. I'd also like to see them do something with the atrium, they need to put a little color and style in there, the off-white color makes the place unimpressive.

As for the old rooms (14th floor) being tacky and "too 1987" - well, I guess that's an opinion of a couple people. I still would rather see these rooms decorated like that, because I think the current 14th floor rooms look worse than the "new" design of the regular rooms.

We were scheduled to stay at Shades of Green this past January and got the dreaded letter that we needed to change hotels due to the renovation. When I looked online at the Contemporary rooms, I about died! I called my husband over to look at the pictures and we both started laughing at how tacky and garish we thought they were.

That being said, they weren't as bad in person, but definitely not a place we'd choose to stay again. I think it was more due to the fact that the garden wing was so run down though than the actual room decor. If we had paid regular Disney prices to stay there we most definitely wouldn't have been happy. The hotel also didn't feel very "vacation-y" to me. The lobby area (aside from the monorail of course) and the hallways felt more like a hospital waiting area to me than a hotel.

I think the Contemporary would benefit from a complete redo, but I know that some people really love it. Guess we all have different opinions, which is why there's so many hotels for different tastes...

I thought the same thing! We were staying at FW in the cabins when a hurricane happened upon us and we were "evacuated" to the CR. I was expecting George and Judy Jetson to come walking through our door! (Or on that particular night "blowing" through the door would have been more likely :( )

We were there in May and the room decor did not bother us. I kind of liked the idea that it was sort of campy. I really think that if they redo it they should go even wilder with a real George Jetson style. That would be an interesting theme.
