What Should We Do About Accomodations?

  • Keep what we have at All Stars Movies

  • Call Disney daily, hoping a Moderate opens

  • Call Disney daily, hoping pricing drops in order to fill the rooms

  • Read what I posted for another idea!

Hi all,

My girlfriend and I are counting down to our Disney Vacation from 08/26-08/31! We are scheduled to stay at All Stars Movies, which I am on the fence about how I feel about that. I'll admit that as a child, my family always stayed at Deluxe Resorts (Poly, Contemportary, Disney Inn/Golf Resort) and as an adult, I've stayed at a Moderate (French Quarter).

I was hoping for an free upgrade, since I didn't get the free dining promotion (paid for Magic Your Way Plus Dining), though no luck and at this point I'm not holding my breath.

I called today and was told during our stay that nothing in the Moderates was available and was offered Saratoga Springs for an extra $1,000 (studio), Old Key West for an extra $1,500 (1 bedroom) or the Poly or GF at rates that are completely out of my budget.

Please either post or complete my poll as to what you think I should do.

Thanks!!!

The DVC is a lot more $. I'd call every day, until the 21st, to see if there is a cancellation. After that date it would cost people $, so you'll be out of luck.

Keep calling. :) Just as you want something else, so do others and some find they are unable to go at all. Something may open up.

You're still over a week away from arrival. Since room-only reservations can be cancelled up to 5 days prior to arrival, keep calling! A mod may open up around the 20-22!

I have an option you might not have considered. Have you thought about staying at a family suite at All Star Music? It's right around the same price as a moderate room and they are still showing availability on AAA's website (Disney's, of course, is giving me error messages:rolleyes: ). It would give you more room, the kitchenette, two bathrooms, and a queen size bed instead of a double. Just a thought.

BTW - AAA is showing all mods fully booked also.

I would stay at ASM and enjoy spending the extra money on dinner at those deluxe resorts. A romantic dinner goes a long way toward nice memories.:flower3: (Start making ressies now if you haven't yet!)

There are 2 ways I can look at this. Since it is your first trip to Disney together, chances are excellent that your focus will be on going to the parks all day long. You may find that you won't have much of a chance to lounge around poolside - so I am wondering if the upgrade is even worth it right now. In that sense, I think you will be fine if you stay at the value report. The next time you go, you can always upgrade - you and your girlfriend will appreciate it that much more.

Or...you could book your last 2 or 3 nights at a moderate. My husband did this for me one year as a sirprize (AKL) - it was awesome and didn't break the bank too badly. Disney took care of moving our bags, I got to see a new resort, and we got to compare life at the moderate level. It was a great way to end the trip! Good luck! :flower3:

I would stay at All Star Movies. But if you are really uncomfortable with staying at a Value Resort then keeping trying for a Moderate. But I think that All Star Movies would be fun!!! I maybe satying at one of the All Stars or Pop during Christmas time!!! Good Luck!!!

Keep calling daily, but remember that you're already booked and will have fun no matter where you stay.
