Vote Mama Melrose or 50's PT?

Which restaurant would you pick. On our MGM day we thought either 50's PT since DH is really wanting to try it or Mama Melrose with the FDP? We have never seen fantasmic in all our Disney trips . It will be me (DW), DH ,DD7, DS3 and brothers family which is DB, SIL, DN9 and DN4. I know 50's PT will be fun but maybe MM is the better choice since we won't have to sit as long with little kids for Fantasmic. Which has better food? We are going Columbus Day week. Thanks.

Okay, I voted for '50s PTC because it's one of my favorite things at WDW. But if you wanted the Fantasmic Dinner Package, it isn't a part of it. Mama Melrose is, however. I haven't eaten there, though I've often been tempted.

Incidentally, we had an early ADR for '50s PTC last September and made it out in plenty of time to head over to Fantasmic. We got great seats, though we had to sit and wait for the show for an hour. Next time, I'll bring a book to pass the time. I get antsy waiting for things.

We have eaten at both and ate at Mama Melrose for the FDP last trip. I must say I love the 50's and I can see why the FDP would entice you but there is nothing like a PB&J milkshake while your 7 year old can't stop giggling cause the waitress is telling daddy he may have to stand in the corner or write lines if she catches him with his elbows on the table again...

In our earlier trips, we swore by MM. In the last 4-5 trips, we have been going to 50's Prime Time and have had a blast each time. We will be there again in June.

Mama Melrose has very bland tastless food, 50's has the best fried chicken!

We were happy with the food at Mama M's, but service was very slow. The hour saved holding F! seats will be spent sitting in a restaurant anyway, LOL. So I voted for 50's PTC. Take some glow sticks or light spinners for the kids to play with while you wait for the show to start.

I chose MM. The food is very good. and if your DH wants to see Fantasmic, it'll be easier on you waiting while eating, then waiting in the Fantasmic arena.

I would choose Mama Melrose. Last time my groups of 6 people were universally disapointed with the food at 50's. We actually enjoy MM so much that we have gone our last 2 trips and will again for the Fantasmic. Last trip we arrived over 90 minutes early for fantasmic and still had to stand..not willing to do that again. But thats in June, so time of year makes a big difference.

Well since our trip is in October over Columbus day week /Fall break I might have to do the FDP at Mama Melrose. I would rather eat at 50's PT though it sounds like so much fun and since thiere will be 8 of us it should be a good time.

Tough call but I picked 50s. I like them both, but, I am a Southerner and have a weakness for Fried Chicken.

I despise 50's Prime Time, but a lot of that may have to do with the fact that I want my waiter to take my order, leave, and then bring the food. I don't want to chat and I don't want to be bothered. I'm as introverted as they come. So Mama Melrose gets my vote.

Never have eaten at Mama Melroses, but I have noticed some negative reviews from this thread and on other websites. We, however, LOVED 50's PT. I really felt like I was in my Grandmother's house eating with all the rules.
