Here now. Just got a call from Von's delivery guy claiming gch refused my delivery. Called the hotel , they said they would not refuse. After talking to bellman evidently Von's has changed their policy and won't deliver unless guest is there to receive. Delivery guy refused to return during the window I originally requested on top of it. I requested 4-5 delivery and they showed up at 7am! Said they'd have to comeback tomorrow!

Not happy with Von's right now.

Sounds like you should speak with a supervisor at Von's.
See what their policy is now for deliveries.
Let the supervisor know how you feel about your recent experience.

Good Luck

Oh my goodness! That's awful!!! We had Von's delivery last month and there weren't any problems. I hope you get your deliveries and speak to a supervisor.

Was there alcohol included? I think that's the only time they won't leave with bell services.

Wonder if it was the delivery guy making the decision not to deliver? Maybe, if the guest isn't there to receive, the hotel doesn't tip? While the actual guest might.

I agree, talk to a supervisor.

If there wasn't alcohol in the order, there's no excuse.

I expect to see all kinds of unfavorable changes in prices and in delivery service taking place over the course of the next 6 months to a year. The company that owns Albertsons (which got rid of Albertsons' delivery service in California a few years ago) has bought Safeway/Vons. The deal is almost final. I would be shocked if the Vons delivery service stays intact at all after the merger is over, as many Vons locations will suddenly close and/or become Albertsons.:worried:

Ack! NooooOOOoo! We have a trip planned for February and I was hoping to use Vons, we used them before and loved them. Anywhere else that delivers?

Shoot, this is frustrating! We had planned on doing a grocery delivery in Nov! Are there any other stores that do delivery down there?

ETA: One of us can always wait for it, but in the past they've been really bad about calling/texting to let us know they're on their way.

I am crossing my fingers and hoping that the parent company of Albertsons doesn't immediately wipe out the Vons delivery service like they did with Albertsons a few years back. Hopefully, once the takeover/merger is complete, they will not make dramatic changes right away.

Vons is the only "real" grocery store out here that delivers from their full line of fresh, in-store products, and offers good discounts, online coupons, etc.

Well, I take that back -- I think that Bristol Farms may have dipped its toes into the grocery delivery business too, but I don't know if there are any BF stores in Anaheim, and their prices are usually crazy.

There may be some smaller delivery places in Anaheim -- I don't know if Yummy or Pink Dot have services in Orange County? -- but they are like last resorts for me, as they don't have the same array/variety of items that Vons/Safeway has, and their prices are way too high for that lack of variety.

My Vons delivery guys have said that they think they will hear something about their fate (their jobs and the fate of delivery) by the end of the year or at the start of 2015, but hopefully nothing will happen and it will be business as usual (somewhat). Some of the drivers and in-store personnel have already begun to look for other jobs, as they don't want to be blindsided by layoffs if those should happen.

Some of the Vons locations will have to change names or close because Albertsons is expected to be the major presence in the merger (which would explain why, all of a sudden, I have been seeing a lot of Albertsons commercials on TV lately), and in some cases there would be Albertsons and Vons stores right across the street from each other.

That is what was thinking. They know they aren't getting tipped so they probably don't want to go.

Nevermind - had to edit my post because I realized from Sherry's post above that Albertson's discontinued their delivery service.

I wonder if this would spur Disney to offer a grocery service like the Residence Inn does. I mean, at the very least, the Villas would be a good place to start given that a lot have kitchens. However - if they make it hard to get groceries, people will buy on site so there's that.

They already offer a small grocery list available to order for ALL DVC's through the DVC website. Whitewater snacks has most items from their (Disney) list ready available for purchase. I have bought ASAP from Whitewater just a few times for making breakfast in the villas such as real eggs or liquid egg whites, bacon, bagels and OJ. I've seen frozen pizza, items for PBJ's & yogurt also available for purchase. There is not much but just enough to get you started!

Are there other delivery services for groceries? We usually go to WDW in the fall and order groceries but we are going to Disneyland this fall and will have a 1 bedroom unit. Are there grocery stores within walking distance near Grand California?

Amazon Fresh has started delivering in southern california. Has anyone tried it?

I'm also very curious about this service. I wonder if most hotels accept package deliveries?

I'm planning to buy a package of bottled water and some snacks. This would save me a trip to Target.

Ooo, good point! I remember seeing the stuff in Whitewater. We're renting so I don't think we can order from the DVC website.
