Von's Grocery Delivery - Canadian Credit cards

Hi there, I wanted to ask a question aimed at those Canadians who have successfully used a Canadian credit card to pay for an online order to be delivered to their hotel room.

There has been many threads started on this forum indicating some Canadians haven't been successful at getting Von's to accept a Canadian credit card but I think some have been successful.

To those who have been successful, can you please either post here (if comfortable) or send me a private message here indicating the type of credit card used (mastercard/visa/american express and the issuing bank in Canada, etc). This way, I can determine the best card to use as I would really like to arrange for some essential items to be delivered to my room at the Hojo on the day of arrival.

Also, I understand if I order for the first time, the delivery is free as long as it is a minimum of $100 order. If it is below $100, can I pay a delivery fee and still get items delivered?

Yes, you can order less than $100 and still have groceries delivered. You might want to check out their website (link) for their fee schedule.

As far as if they will accept your particular credit card, you should call the store and ask (they, of all sources, should know the answer!).

The minimum amount needed to place an order is $50 and the first delivery is free. I would call the phone number listed on their site for home deliveries (1-877-723-3929), rather than call one of the actual stores, since you wilI be paying when you place the order online through the home delivery site and not when the store delivers your order. I spoke to them before I placed an order and they were very helpful.

I'm watching this thread with great interest. I tried online a few years ago, and was denied. I grumpily just left it at that. Please let us know if you find anything out on your own!

Do you have a Safeway Club card? Safeway is the same as Von's and I've used my Club Card in BC before. That might help.

I'm from Australia, and encountered the same problem the first time I tried to order groceries. If you enter your hotel address as the credit card billing address when you finalise your order, you should have no problems. I've done this twice now, and absolutely no problems. If I remember correctly, the first time I used a Visa (Albertsons), and the second a Mastercard (Vons).

Be sure to call your hotel to see if they will accept a grocery delivery on your behalf IF you will not be there to sign & receive the delivery. In June DLH refused my grocery delivery & we ended up cancelling the order and taking a cab to Von's to get our stuff.

I have a few Canadian credit cards and one with Capital One (Canadian Credit card but CapitalOne is American) so I have a few to try this out. Thanks for all your tips.
