I'm asking because I have a weird phobia of people throwing up.
On my trip in 2006 the only time I saw someone throw up was while watching Wishes, a little boy threw up on my shoes because his mom was ignoring him when he said he felt sick. :sad2: :scared:
Have you been on a ride when someone threw up?
Or seen someone throw up while at the parks?
Again, I know this is a weird, sorta gross question, I'm just wondering.
Another reason is because last time, I wasn't afraid of any ride itself, just terrified that the person behind me was going to throw up on me. Or that I would throw up. Either way, it really scares me for some reason.

We were on Buzz and I smelled cheese doodles. Really gross I know. I didn't know where it was coming from. A little girl got sick on her father (they were in the car in front of us) but we didn't actually see it happen. That was a few years ago. Haven't seen anything since.

I have the same type-ish phobia. I'm typically not scared that someone is going to throw up on me... but I do get scared that I am going to (yeah, it causes panic attacks... I'm trying self hypnosis to calm my fears- and it's actually working really well.) I've never seen anyone throw up in the parks. Typically, the rides (other than mission space...) don't make people sick- they're magical disney rides!! :thumbsup2

DS threw up once in DHS. Earlier in the day, he asked for some fruit snacks. I had forgotten to throw a pack in my purse when we left the resort. Of course, being a hungry and tired 3 year old, he melted down. He did not want any other kind of snack. I found some mickey head gummy candies and gave those to him as a substitute. Well, I didn't think about it, and I gave him the bag in the stroller and he ate almost the entire thing! When we were leaving, we were in a gift shop and DS puts his hand over his mouth and says he feels sick. We managed to get him out of the store and to a tree.

Actually, it's the same for me too!
I am more afraid of people throwing up on me, but I am still terrified of me throwing up.
I have no idea where my fear came from, but i've been afraid of throw up for as long as I can remember.
I know how you feel about the panic attacks too. Ugh, I have these frenzies that I go into while waiting in line. I am so paranoid I actually look around and try and see if the people around me look like they're feeling sick.
I should try self-hynosis too! :thumbsup2

As we were leaving MK late one evening, after Wishes I think, and it was crowded, in early December, there was a little girl to the side on Main Street, kind of in an alcove, and she was throwing up. I felt terrible for her, and her mom was looking for napkins or something. They were trying to leave, but it just wasn't soon enough.

The top rides for "protein spills" (which is what Disney calls it when someone throws up) are:

  • Teacups
  • Mission : Space (the full-out version)
  • Rockin' Roller Coaster
  • Tower of Terror

Obviously, anyone could throw up on any given ride -- even the really mild ones, since people tend to eat a lot of junk while on vacation and their systems can rebel at any point. I've seen kids lose it in the middle of Main Street simply because they're hot and exciting and trying to eat too fast. But if you avoid these four rides, you can probably avoid 90% of possible protein spills.

Seriously it's helped me so much. I can't remember the actually title, but it's in a neon green box and i got it from Barnes and Noble in Feb (it was my valentine's present from my husband LOL!). It's a guy that walks you through different self hypnosis sequences. It's really for 'anxiety', but it works with any 'anxiety' type situation. I used to be scared of flying (clostrophobia, etc), and now I can fly with the best of them!

I get my phobia from my mom's side of the family. They're all crazy like me. :confused3. If you're scared of someone getting sick on you in the parks, which probably will NOT happen, bring an extra change of clothes and some wet wipes/wet washcloths and put them in a locker each day you're there. That way, if it does happen, you'll have something to clean up with. AND, just because someone else gets sick, doesn't mean you will to. If it does happen, just clean up, and even go back to your hotel to shower up and go back to the parks!! :yay:

I was lucky enough to ride Mission Space on the very first day they began doing guest previews at Epcot a few years ago and got to ride 4 times. They had that baby cranked way up, many people were “losing their lunch”.

Know anyone who's thrown up?

Yes, my dad. Teacups. Need I say more...

Well, not at WDW but at DisneyLand. I was standing on Main Street waiting for the evening parade to start and a family sat on the curb a few feet away. They were all snacking while waiting, as was I. Suddenly the little boy, about 5, started throwing up like there was no tomorrow! Right there in the street. No attempt made to clean it up or anything and the parade was just about to start. They all just laughed about it. The mom even pointed it out to the little sister. "Look!" she said, "Bubba has apples coming out his nose!". :crazy2:
Needless to say, no one fought them for their parade spot!

You know how you always tell your kids, "Don't put your hands in the water," on Pirates etc

One night we were on the boat ride in Mexico and right near where the boats lets passengers off a woman in the boat in front of us leaned over and threw up in the water :scared1:

My 3 year old had an "incident" in Adventureland. We had just gotten off POC and he was strapped in an umbrella stroller. As we were leaving he starting freaking out at shouting "Choke! Choke!" I knew what was about to happen. I rushed him to the side to get him to a garbage can but I was too late. All over his shoes and on the curb by the tikis that spurt water. There was a man right next to us that got a front row seat. He was so cordial and said he understood. He had kids too. If he is reading this, I am soooo sorry again you had to see (and smell) that. :scared:

I have no idea what caused it. Now, I always carry a plastic bag with me. I learned my lesson. ;)

I totally understand. This is a fear of mine too. When Mission Space was new I really wanted to ride, but was afraid of what might happen in the capsule. I went for it, and DH and I got put in with another couple. Because of all the talk, I grabbed a bag just to have, even though I thought Id be fine. The girl in with us saw me do that and asked for one. Let just say THANK GOD I GAVE HER ONE!!! Halfway thourgh I started hearing hacking and could not get out of the ride fast enough. :scared:

One night last year in February it was probably ten or eleven PM and I was on the bus, standing because it is sooooo crowded at night, and some lady said "I'm sick of listening to you today" to her son and started piling candy in his mouth so he'd stop talking...about three minutes later he said "Mom I don't feel good" and she said "I don't want to hear you speak until we get back to the hotel" and sure enough I started to feel splattering vomit against my calves and all over my shoes...I was really angry and it smelled so bad because we were still about 5 minutes from the hotel

:scared1: Ewwwwww!

Thinking of your own vomit getting on you is bad enough, but someone else's is just awful! I'm so sorry that happened:sad2:

I've only seen someone actually puking at WDW once (it was after one of the Mountain coasters...can't remember which), although I've seen the aftermath several times.

I did see a good one on Disney Cruise Line tho'. We were in Parrot Cay (diningroom), and thankfully our table was far enough away to simply make it a spectator incident without having to deal with the smell etc. A little boy at a table on the other side of the section, but directly within our view, just suddenly started puking his guts out. I felt so sorry for him (as well as his family and everyone nearby!). I don't know if it was sea sickness or his critique of the meal or what, but it was pretty graphic.

While waiting in line for the teacups we got to watch this poor castmember trying to clean up a protein spill, while the ride was still running  finally he decided that it was not something they could do without stopping the ride so they just got a cover that fit perfectly over the top of the teacup. DF joked well this must be a common thing; if they are special made lids.
