Today my husband and I volunteered at the National Kidney Foundation Walk. We arrived early to help set up, registered walkers and raised $ ourselves. A very good day. :)

Before all of this, I received the email to confirm the time and write the additional family member which I completed. :surfweb:

This morning when we arrived, we signed in.

Now does the rep at the National Kidney Foundation do something to confirm we were there? Then what do I expect next? :confused3 This will all be done in the next 2 weeks I hope?

It was a great way to get excited for the upcoming trip.:dance3: Who am I kidding, I have been excited for a while.:upsidedow

Had you already processed the fact that you were doing this with Disney- not sure how it worked.

Last week the promotion ended.I hope you were all set from their point of view.

You should get an e-mail from Hands On Network thanking you for volunteering. This appears to be automatically generated once your date has passed - it doesn't mean they have received anything from your volunteer organization. Your volunteer organization will confirm you as having completed your service sometime in the next two weeks. At that point, you will receive an e-mail from Disney Destinations stating that your vouchers are a few clicks away. You will need to log in to your GAD account (there is a link in the e-mail you will get) and print your vouchers.

You can view your account status at any time by logging into your account. Some have received their vouchers in just a few days, but Disney says to wait two weeks. If two weeks have passed and you haven't been confirmed you can contact GAD Guest Assistance and find out what the holdup is.

Here is the link to the FAQs so you will know what to expect:

Back in Feburary I signed up on the give a day site. I chose the Kidney Walk and was sent an email from the give a day that said the Kidney Foundation would contact me with the day and time. They did and then I logged back onto my account and put the hours I worked.

That is where I stand today.

I had hoped that since I signed up for this promotion back in early February before the you could no longer sign up meant we could still get the free tickets.

Thoughts?

If you are signed up, you should be good to go. Now the Kidney Foundation has to go in and confirm you. Then you should get your voucher e-mail about a week later.

For me, we got a Thank You from hands on, then we got a thank you from Binky Patrol telling me that they had verified our service and we should get our vouchers soon. Now I am waiting for the voucher e-mail and think I will get it within the week.

Great- thanks everyone for the comments. I will await my email. Yahoo!!!

As long as you registered an account and told them the date you were going to volunteer you should be good.

Getting an email from the place on date and time without registering an account won't do any good. You will be out the tickets.

We volunteered at a nursing home and the next day got the standard thank you for volunteering email from Hands on. Our volunteer date was a Sunday and we were told to sign in on the disney book (that was the nursing home's procedure).

I called the next day because I am neurotic and I am glad I did. First, the nursing home contact told me she thought it was over. I told her that if you had a confirmed volunteer activity set up then it was not over. Second, because of this she had not even looked in the disney book at the front desk to do the "confirming part". While we were on the phone together, she confirmed our activity.

We got our emailed vouchers about one week later.

One thing I noticed.....

We had signed up four volunteers...DH, me, DD, DS. At the last moment DD could not volunteer because she had to work. It was very last minute and I did not change her status on the database.

The day after we volunteered (before I made my phone call) all of our status' were pending verification. After I spoke with the nursing home coordinator and she "confirmed" us while I was on the phone....I checked our status. Myself, DH, and DS were still "pending verification" BUT my DD's status was changed to (and forgive me for not knowing the exact words..but you will get the drift) "did not complete volunteer activity". So even thought the confirmation by the nursing home didn't affect our status...it was certainly registered by the system.

And, as a side note, I had to tell the coordinator that my DD did not volunteer...otherwise she would have confirmed her as well.

I guess my whole point here is that each organization is going to have some logistical differences. I would call any coordinator where you did not get your email vouchers after two weeks for CERTAIN.

thanks for the advice.

Today I received a generic email from the Hands on network saying thank you.

I know the volunteer coordinator at least knows she has to do something. We were known as the Disney volunteers at the walk and we talked about our upcoming trip. So hopefully that will help her remember to complete the paperwork.

If I do not hear anything by the middle of next week, I will contact the Kidney Foundation.

THANKS for the info!!:goodvibes

I waited my 2 weeks to the day and when I did not receive my vouchers, I called Disney directly. I informed them that I would be in WDW in 2 weeks and needed this taken care of before that point. They were very helpful, took down the information of my contact person in order to call/email them. I also took the initiative to email my contact person. I just received an attended status from HandsOn. I was told by the Disney CM that even if I don't get my actual vouchers, if I am marked as attended they can print out my pass at the parks for me.

just logged into my email and received my vouchers!! And the walk was just on Sunday!

All set to go.... now just 16 more days...... :Pinkbounc:bounce::bounce:
