Hi all,

we are staying onsite at Hard Rock Hotel and so can take advantage of the early entry to volcano bay.

We have booked a cabana for our day there and I’m just wondering whether you recommend we go and check in to the cabana first to hopefully get our choice of cabana, or is it more beneficial to make use of the early entry to get some rides done and then check in to the cabana afterward?

We will only have the opportunity to visit volcano bay for one day during our trip and haven’t been there before, so we want to make the most of our day - hence booking a cabana.

Any advice much appreciated!

Cabana first. You can still get to rides early, and you can use the Tapu inside the cabana instead of having to go to the ride itself. Best plan is to get to Krakatau first, ride it and tap in to get a return time so you get two quick rides, then use the cabana tapu to get in the next line.

We didn't get a cabana, but walked by the check in line a little later in the day, and it was crazy long, and looked very slow moving. I'd try to get your cabana first thing, then dash off to Krakatau.

In another thread here, someone said that they were staying in Cabana Bay and walked over super early so that they would be near the front of the line to get in for EA. Then they went straight to the Cabana line and was at the front of that line. Because they didn't have to wait for other people to dither about which cabana they wanted, that was super quick. Then they went straight to Kraka-whatever

THIS!!! Get there super early for EA and line up (not sure how easy it will be taking the Universal transportation as I stayed at Cabana Bay). The line for the cabana is VERY slow moving and I waited at least an hour to be able to get mine and went right when EA was starting. I was still able to ride Krakatau once without tapping in but that was it. It wasn't too bad as we got to do everything we wanted to do but try to get there as early as you possibly can so that you can get your cabana and get started. You are going to love it!

Hi everyone. A follow-up question to this thread. Does the entire family need to be at the cabana check-in or can I send the family onto Krakatoa? We will be there EA and I was hoping I could just meet them at the Krakatoa exit to show them when our cabana is located after I‘ve finished checked in. They usually do Krakatoa at least three times during EA so I know where to find them.

Additional idea. You might want to send them with your Tapu. Have them use it get in line whenever it switches from "Ride Now", which is quick. Then when you arrive you can join them in their next ride without waiting.

Another idea I got from a CM. It is based on the fact that you can only be virtually waiting in line for one ride at a time. BUT, you can have more than multiple stored reservations at a time. So, if you Tap into the line at Krakatoa and it gives you a Wait Time of 10 minutes. Instead of waiting around the entrance to the ride, go onto the next most popular ride. It will probably be "Ride Now", so ride it until it has a wait. By then your Krakatoa will have switched to "Anytime". So, tap into the line at this second ride and move onto the third most popular. Repeat at different rides until the wait on your tapu is a long one. Since you are moving in decreasing popularity, it might take awhile to get to that point. You will stored reservations for several of your favorites.

If you are someone like me, you then go use your Krakatoa reservation, so you can start the timer for it again.

Wow! This is a GREAT tip! I had no idea you could store multiple reservations at a time!!!!
