Why, oh why would you leave someone a 4min 43sec voicemail? Why not just say, "Hey, have a question, call me back"?

Just askin'.

How many uhhhh's and ummmmm's are on the message? Sounds like someone was paying attention to someone else when they were leaving the message, or wanted to get the ball into your court and make sure it stayed there.

I have a voicemail message saved on my phone at the last place I worked (the person who took over my job saved it for me). It has my daughters on it from about 5 years ago. It is so cute! I need to somehow record it.

Oh I know. My parents are notorious for leaving long messages and usually weird things happen to them while driving and it gets recorded on the message. My sister got a message from my mom on her work voicemail that included my dad yelling an expletive in the background. And I got a message once that went on for about 5 minutes that included a whole anecdote in the middle that went something like this "Oh my a bird just hit the windsheild. A BAT?!?!?! Oh my gosh, we just hit a bat!!!!!" Then she contintued with whatever she was talking about. My roommate played that one over and over for a week. :lmao:

i wish i had a sarcastic response, but i don't. when i leave a longer than 1 sentence vm, it's because i want the recipient to call me back after they've investigated the question and formulated a definitive response, or at least pull a file so they can answer questions while we're still talking. it avoids a step in the process.

Im really bad about leaving long messages on voice mails. I can't help it. I start going on about what I wanted to talk to them about. Then I keep going and can't stop. And I talk really fast when I know Im being timed. Can't help it. Bad habit.

I'm sorry, Mal, that was me that left you the longwinded voicemail. :lmao: I can tell you why I do it--because by the time someone calls me back, I've done twenty other things and I've forgotten why I called to begin with. I had to start leaving the long messages so the person I was calling could jog my memory when they called me back.

I'm too embarassed to tell you how many times I've completely forgotten why I called someone to begin with.

There...now you know my secret. ;)

I suppose I should be grateful it wasn't all written out on post-it notes stuck to my desk. ;)

What I can't stand is when they leave you a call back number that you can't understand because they speed talk:rolleyes: I had to rewind 4 times to get a number today. S...L...O...W D..O..W...N :headache: Oh, have you ever had someone leave you a message while they're chomping on pretzels?:rolleyes1

To be honest...I won't listen to the whole thing. I figure they can call back another time if I don't know who it is. :rolleyes1 Which, make me think of another phone related matter...I'll start a new thread though. I don't want to hijack this one. ;)
