I've heard there are things to do in the actual Magic Kingdom that go along with the vmk online game- anyone know about this?

Yes! There are quests that you go on in the MK. You answer questions to get codes that you use on VMK to get virtual stuff for your virtual rooms.

Go to the VMK home page (vmk.com) to read about them. You don't have to be signed up to visit this page.

It's something we have had a lot of fun doing with our kids. And we loved the quests. There are four and then we also signed up for a tour. We rode Pirates and backdoored into HM where we had more questions to answer specifically about this ride.

There is a holiday quest going on right now but that will be over soon.

Here on the DIS VMK has it's own board. Here's a link to the players guide. Has all kinds of info about the game, the in park quests, the park purchases for virtual prize, etc.
