VMK VALUES ??? why do they not enforce them?

On the other hand, since it is Dream Month, it would not be fair if some people had hosts, etc. on their friends list, as they would know where the host was at the time, giving them an unfair advantage, or hound them for stuff. So it seems that there is an across the board policy that no Yavn/QA/Host/VMK_ people be on a friend list of any players.

For the record staff deleted people back in July so had nothing to do with dream month and if they had not deleted them yes they would for this promotion.

Another thought that occured to me was this: VMK being baught away from Disney. Really if you think about it,
No new land/items revealed recently.
All Disney names changed
VMK Central Closing
Moderation Changes
Month Events
Dream's Month. After all, all dreams do have to eventually come to an end...

There is no way that this would happen, too many legalities and copyrights involved. VMK would close first.

Bug makes a lot of good points as well. I said this months ago and I will say it again....I believe we are seeing the beginning of the end with VMK....at least the game we all like and play.

I would not be surprised if it goes to pay-to-play and I believe the lack of moderation is a sign for a major change to come.

I think the dreams month is a diversion. I have thought that all along. I do not believe this is really to align with the celebration at the parks, but perhaps a period or break for those who are staffed to support VMK. Maybe a time in which Yavn can exit and somebody else can enter. Maybe his contract was for 2 years?

Either way, I say hold on to your butts, because there are some major changes coming and we all know how hard change is to accept.

EXACTLY what I've been thinking. I think this whole Dreams month is also a way to compensate for VMK closing.

What an eye opener this thread is. All these obvious signs right under our nose. To lose something we have all come to love so much like vmk, would definately be a sad day. If we feel the effects imagine how our hosts feel. And I wonder if they know any more than we do.

I guess whats important now is, enjoy vmk while we can. If you notice this dreams thing has brought us closer with many ppl. Maybe thats to cushion the blow if and when vmk closes. So we can remember our dreams.

Let's hope someone feels vmk is worth it, and all the ppl the game effects. Maybe someone will see we arent virtual and we all have a voice in this.

I think your sentiments and determination to keep VMK online is great, but I am afraid at this point, as with all things Disney, if VMK is closing, there is no amount of emails to the black hole of VMK Shorty that will save our virtual game.

Unless Disney feels that they are turning a profit and filling Mickey's pockets, I do not see 100 emails from a bunch of VMK-crazed Dissers rescuing the program from being dragged and dropped into the nearest recycle bin.

As some may not know POTC Online beta phase 1 has now ended and is now going through some major changes before it opens (they said in September when it finished) as beta phase 2. It had more bugs and lag in phase 1 then VMK ever had (and yes I have been on VMK pretty regularly since mid beta). To top all that off its minimum requirements were way past VMK and they went up even more recently. To add to that it is intended for a much older audience than VMK.

However I would not be surprised if it was intended for VMK's older players, while Club Penquin and ToonTown are intended for VMK's younger players.

Good points made by all. I said it way back once the DL VMK Central closed that something wasn't right. Then once the kids got out of school it just took a huge plunge down hill. No one moderating the game as they should or anything. Which to me was kind of saying "we will just let the game go to heck and then close it cause it can't be controled now." That is what it has come to. There is no control. They lost that a long time ago and others saw it was ok to act that way so they did it and so on and so forth. We had nothing exciting over summer like before. We have had nothing thrilling now. I have not logged in for awhile now. I can't bring myself to cause I am not happy with this Dreams Month junk and find it to be very unfair to those kids that play and can't sit around all day for whatever. All that should have been sold during the month. Plus the fact they give things to those that were just acting against the rules is not right! I hate to say it but with how things are and after reading the thread about bytheblood's daughter, well the plug should be pulled. I will miss it myself but I have been missing how VMK was before all this trouble and problems started. We used to have a game that was fun. Its not fun anymore...or at least as fun. There is nothing to look forward to at all. We have no updates like we used to get, no new pin from the Fantasyland rides in months now, no quests to do for the month or every weekend from the Host, no host games, nothing new in stores this month, so really not much to look forward too at all IMO. And maybe because of buying Club Penguin and having changed Toontown to have a free section besides the pay is more important to them since it brings in the money. I know that IF (that is a huge if) VMK was to become a pay to play game, they would have alot of cleaning up to do in that game and need more to offer then they have at this point. I really wouldn't pay for it with how it is.
Oh and as for how they handle things with players reporting other players...I do the same thing SweetJaydGrl does. I just tell VMK that they need to look at the player(s) behavior and/or that they are doing something that is against VMK values. I have never had problems doing that. I rarely have seen the ignore thing said from that. Of course I have no clue if they look but doubt they do.

Over the past couple of monthes I have been pondering around the same things all of you are and wondering to myself, "Is It Really Worth It? Is It Really Worth Wasting My Hours Of Life To See What New Virtual Item Comes Out?". All of the these reason that I've been reading from all of the previous threads are COMPLETELY OUT-OF-MIND TRUE and are not opinions but pure
facts.

For one thing is my superstition about the past couple of monthes and the things that have happened here. Today I signed onto vmk (after about a week of not going on just because of the question, "Why?") and when I entered I got about SEVEN NEW MESSAGES all about the same thing: Name Changes! My best friend got his name changed even though the only to words in it were his name and Duck at the end. DUCK? What does VMK has against ducks? ducks may be a dictionary dance word for a certain bad word but duck is Also a disney character!

Another fact that quite disturbed me is the ideas about yavn. Yavn may have been the leader of the VMK game, but he wasn't the creator of it. I know it's not realistic but i mean I honestly felt that he does sometimes takes a Lot of credit towards himself for certain things, saying that "he is giving it to us". Look, I don't have a problem with him but I mean lying to us (if he is) is just not right.

Some other fact that also gives me interest is the fact of moderation changes. They never said that these "New Moderations" would be good OR bad for the community of their test subjects. Band in the hot summer of 2005 when i first started playing this game, I just gave an applause to the outsanding game that just completely blew my mind out the cannon, but now I respond to vmk with a cross-armed look and shaking my head. In 2005 my brothers told me this: VMK IS A AD CAMPAIGN FOR DISNEY. After two years of disbelieving it my colors on this subject suddenly change to this idea. DREAMS MONTH??? I bet the Disney big wigs told the people at vmk that if they do not keep their head in the objective of getting kids into going to the parks, they can just kiss their game goodbye.

I'm sure there was a clear space agreement for vmk in the parks, just as long as they keep up the work of getting people to go to the parks. With the slack of quest changes less and less of their customers to the park arrived as they would try to have. I'm sure all of you are completely disagreeing with this at the moment, but think of it this way: Everest Month.

Everest Month was fun but what it did was to try to boost up the excitement of this well-worked on ride that was built to try and fix the attendence problems of Animal Kingdom. VMK was told to make new items leading up to getting people to go to this ride. Long Story short, My idea is that disney is not using vmk as a fun place for players all over to talk to others, but just simply a new way of getting people to connect to Disney better.

Before you say any rebuttals over these responses, please just think about it.

the one thing though, not everyone in the game has a way to contact their vmk friends outside of the game. So imagine the people that made friends with others during dream month in the game, and then poof, it's gone. At least we can still stay in contact through the DIS!

Thanks for that useful info old friend, I just feel that this new moderation system is just plain messed up. gosh that just makes me sad. I don't know the clear straight out problems going on, but i do know vmk is what it use to be.
