VMK tour-how early-DLR*NEW TOUR REVIEW

Thanks for the valuable information. Maybe we will be able to get on a tour on a Sunday then if we just get there before the park opens. :flower:

Great report jlima. My sister and I both have tour cards burning in our back pockets (computer desks), and have yet to find time to actually make it down to DLR and collect on our goodies. Soon, soon. -rubs hands together-

I'm glad to hear that the HM Conservatory is still collectable. Whoo hoo!

They don't let you get the tour card before completing the quests. You must complete all the quests to get the card. With the exception of the prize for the tour from vmk. I had tour cards from previous visits and family members ;) It had been 30 days since my last quests so I took the opportunity to collect on all again :flower:

Ooh bummer...
well I was hoping.
Hey maybe if I do my 50 Hidden Mickeys I could get the voucher ...
then I can sign up before doing the whole quests right?

another question,
I will have less than 2 days to do 2 parks plus this tour.
If you have a choice between doing the tour on Friday or Saturday which one would you choose?

thanks a bunches! :teeth:

Can anyone in the know answer my question?

I took the VIP tour at DLR in mid-August. I am going back to DLR at the end of this month (more than 60 days, but not yet 90 days). I used my pass to do the quests, but they did not swipe my annual pass when I went on the tour. I want to do the tour again ONLY to get the pirate stuff (which means I will need to do the quests again also--ugh). Will they let me? If not, can I use one of the 50 Mickey Vouchers to get on the tour? I also have a couple extra VIP cards....if I use one of those will they let me? I will be upset if they won't let me get the pirate stuff, because I probably won't be back to DLR for a few months.

I am in exactly the same dilema. I will let you know. I will be going before you. Wish i had your VIP passes. I think you are ok to just go with those.

They do not keep track of how often you take the tours. The time limit is how often you can get prizes/tour cards. If you already have tour cards, in thoery you can take the tour as often as you like. You can't earn new tour cards or any other prizes in less then 90 days. It doesn't matter how you get prizes/tours. If you got the tour card via the hidden mickey coupon, you can't get another tour card by completing the quests. Same with the wristbands. You can get one by completing any of the in park quests or coupons from VMK. Regardless of how you got it you can only get one every 90 days. Hope that wasn't too confusing.

OK, that is good news. I do have an extra tour card (thought I had two, but can't find the second one now!), so hopefully that will work. I REALLY don't want to go on the entire tour again (Don't want to be a greedy gus-LOL), just want to do the Pirate Quest (arg!). pirate:
Thanks, Guys!

Okay I was at disneyland today and here is the scoop.
Everything is at 90 days now. That includes redeeming coupons for tent rooms, chairs, the 50 Mickey tour card, everything.

I went on the tour Aug 14, (they could tell me the day) and also redeemed a tent code at that time. They would not let me redeem the 50 Mickey tour card, or a tent room code. They will let you do the new quests (they said, but I didn't bother to do them) but they will only give you the new prizes, which are the pins. I would imagine you would not be able to get a tour card for doing all 4 quests if you had done a tour after Aug. 1st.

If you have a vip tour card, you can use that to take the tour, no questions asked, as I understand it.

I asked when the new 90 days came into effect and I was told, "about two weeks ago and it is retroactive back to Aug. 1st." Then the tour guide that was standing nearby proceeded to lecture me about how there were so many abuses of the tour with people going every two weeks, and on and on. She made me feel like crap and I wasn't even trying to abuse the system. All the literature said 30 days and it was nearly 60. Oh and now the coupon you get for the tour from finding all the Mickeys is only good for 2 people, not 4 as it states on the coupon.

I suggested that maybe instead of making it retroactive, that perhaps they should change the 30 day rule to 90 day from the date they decided to do the change. (That got me a mean look from the tour guide, as though I was personally responsible for all of the abuse) or perhaps they should do it so that you can do each different tour only once, to which the tour guide replied, "well it's really the same tour, there's only a little that is different." Okay, I guess one of us missed the point there. However, the kind guy working at the VMK booth smiled and said, "there's a feedback link on the VMK front page, write and let them know."

At the end of the conversation, I couldn't see straight because I was so humiliated that the tour guide insinuated I was trying to cheat the system.

I wasn't totally surprised at the change, since things had been reported on this board. But it didn't seem to be consistent. They are now very consistent.
