I agree with Mal. This is TOTALLY WRONG. I was working hard at getting code after code the legit way hoping for Sparrow. Then I found here that some people had the generator.

The reaction was WRONG. Make people use a real email account and limit the number of codes a person can enter a day. SIMPLE solution.

I've spent my time earning credits to buy a Quest Machine and enough to buy Sparrow. Now that I can't it really stinks. THIS IS SO NO DISNEY! Walt must be turning in his grave. (Yes I'm old enough to remember him)

So many things can be done better in VMK like a contextual filter for the dictionary so we can talk like normal people. Call for help where someone shows up instead of "in a private room it is up to the Owner to take care of problems" especially when owner keeps d/c like everyone else.

OK, here's my logic: VMK is designed to get us into the parks and spend more money, right? Well, what if those of us who have planned trips cancel them in protest of this action? Maybe it Disney in their pocketbooks, and write to Paul Yanover so he knows what's happening.

Hmm - I have had my addiction to Disney trips before VMK - this stuff is not going to make me boycott going to my happy place on an annual basis! Sorry that is just me. I need my WDW!

There was a small group of us, diligently playing the POTC game and putting in code after code since the day the game came out. Just to have one of us, anyone of us, win a Sparrow costume, for a more than deserving generous friend. To date, we still have not accomplished that task.

Now, we have NO HOPE AT ALL, OF EVER getting her this costume. Why? Because we CANNOT GIVE IT TO HER IF WE WON IT!

Thanks VMK. Thanks so much for punishing not JUST the cheating players, but the ENTIRE playing population.

Ahem ... you forgot to mention how Disney made a very unjust action

Its too bad a few people had to spoil things for the rest of us. God knows I have played that POC game enough times. But I have a quick question:

Many have said that the pirate stuff, narnia stuff and pink teleporters and now only worth 1 credit. I tested this and was able to sell a Davey Jones Organ and a Dead Mans Chest for 5 credits each. Is the change to 1 credit only on items entered as of today?? Or has a correction been made?

Personally I have been trying and failing at getting the Sparrow costume (1000+ codes so far). I planned on using some of the extra pirate stuff as well as Narnia stuff as quest prizes. I hope they will soon allow this again.

Really, this isn't VMK's fault. It's the low-life scum script kiddies and hackers out there who seem to feel the need to cheat to get ahead. They feel the need to take what is a simple, fun game and hack or script or whatever in order to feel good about themselves. "Oh, look at me, I can hack into a game/create a code generator/etc. I am l337." No, you aren't. You are sad and pathetic. Crawl back into the hole you came from and leave our game alone.

Sadly, there isn't much recourse for VMK, they have to do things like make cool objects untradeable or reduce their value to 1 coin. Yes, everyone is upset because there are things that got caught in the web of trying to stop the hackers and other scum. Use the 'contact us' button and I'm sure, VMK will help fix it. Contact hosts in game if you need to get something traded, they may be able to assist as well.

Things like pink doors and some Narnia could probably still be tradeable -- those have so little value any more, but with a game like Pirates, it really needs to stay tradeable.
Perhaps write some code that only allows X number of codes generated per IP per day. Make it something reasonable -- 100 or 250, people can still play to get codes but they aren't getting thousands and thousands in the blink of an eye. Perhaps that is something in the works and this current situation is just a stop-gap. At the very least, a post on the VMK newsletter would not be remiss. Communications does wonders for the moral of the players...

For most people with a broadband connection, changing your IP address is not as easy as you think. Yes, it can be done, but typically takes a few calls to your local ISP Helpless Desk or a few days of resetting your modem to force a new IP.

There's always dialup, but that's too painfully slow most times to be a feasible alternative.

It would still eliminate a large segment of the problem.

There's always dialup, but that's too painfully slow most times to be a feasible alternative.

It would still eliminate a large segment of the problem.

It is actually very easy if you do a little research.
Takes about 10 minutes and no need to call your ISP at all.
