Depends on how you look at it. If you want to break it down to the most literal translation of the words then no they do not carry the same meaning.

But if you really want me to break down my rational then I will.

Are the colors black and white the same thing, no. Do each of them represent a color, yes. So couldn't you say that even though they are two different things they are the same (colors.)

Now apply it to this situation. VMK said don't post answers. Aren't posting hints the same thing. Before you answer that question, think. Let's say you're in the middle of a test, let's say the Bar Exam. Do you think they would allow you to turn to the person next to you and say "Listen, don't give me the answer but can you just narrow it do for me between two choices."

Did they give you the exact answer, no. Are they still cheating, yes. So whether you're posting answers or hints you're still cheating. Don't allow a technicality to make it seem better because the verbage was "Post answers" and not "Post answer, or hints, or pictures, or....."

Either way it's all wrong.

Therefore while the definition of a hint and the answer are different, one can conclude that both are wrong and henceforth similar.

But um thanks defining that for me, it really cleared my head.

VMK has requested that the answers to the quest not be POSTED. They haven't asked that they not be exchanged privately.

Got it. So it's okay to cheat, as long as VMK doesn't know about it - keep it private, not public. Thanks for clarifying.

Why does anyone have to be RIGHT or WRONG. Thats what I don't get. I DO beleive that giving the actual letter is going a bit to far. Sure when someone said nemo organ instead of underwater organ it was a nice thing for someone to point out the mistake, and give the hint the check for the name using the shops.

At the same I don't think it's really nice to those who took the time to play the game to find the answers, then to come here and find that the answers were just spelled out. It doesn't really take that long to go through all of these clues and at least TRY to figure them out. Thats where I think the people that are saying giving the answers doesn't sound like the best thing to do. I know I felt like I wasted my time trying to find the answers when all someone else had to do was just look on this board. I know I might sound like a hypocrite (saying nothing is RIGHT or WRONG, then going on to say my opinion) but my aim was just trying to explain why someone might think the way they do.

ok I am home now...and here is my take on this.

We'll pick winners at random, so there's no need to rush. And please, please don't post the answers on any fan sites until the Quest is over, it'll spoil the fun for everyone else.

VMK has not said that posting the answers is cheating or against the VMK TOS, it just asked that answers not be posted because it would spoil everyone's fun.

If you feel the need to post the answers please do so in another thread and title it Spoilers. I am not saying posting answers is right or wrong that decision is up to each person.

Hints and help are welcome in my book.

Personal attacks on the DIS forums are not allowed period.

if any member wants to state their opinion on this topic please do so without name calling or personal arguments.


Also this topic has come up befor and I do not consider guides or hints as cheats and others do,that said I think we all just need to agree to disagree.

I, for one, would LOVE to see VMK do something to someone for what they did OUTSIDE of vmk, and on a fan site such as the dis. Really, bring it on. It could be quite fun by the time it all ended and disney forked out another check lol.

That being said, with the sheer amount of people wandering aimlessly in vmk today having no CLUE what to do with this event, i tried to help. Did i start this thread? yes, actually i did. Did i post the answers? Well no, i posted the item names, but i never said "The four letters you need are:". Do people reading this thread have to read it? not really. Do some people who had a problem with the thread have the power to delete it? yes. Did they? no.

So i edited my part of the whole mess. And the mods can delete the whole thing when they get the chance.

Again let me say I do not think there is anything wrong with helping others find the rooms or decipher the clues and I also do not think that posting the answers is against VMK rules....they just ask that they not be because it would spoil some peoples fun.


so I asked that a new thread be started with SPOILER in the title so if a member did not want to read it they have the choice to either read or not. If you want to add spoiler to this thread that is fine too it is your thread to do with as you see fit.

I see nothing wrong with that.
