VMK swindles you out of 21 credits

I have noticed that when you join a game, it deducts the 21 credits. But, If you leave, it adds it back. Only after the game starts do you lose the 21 credits forever.

It only takes credits after you start the game, as LoriR has clarified above; however, what IS messed up about pirates is:

If you join a game, start the game (subtract 21 credits), play through the entire game, win the game, win a key, and open an empty trunk...
You lose 21 credits. :(

Any way you look at it, you're losing 21 credits just to play. Yeah, yeah. Many people get more credits back from the game. But they are still losing the 21 credits.
Even if you end up getting 256 credits, you still have only really gained 235 credits.
But most people don't see that kind of gain. It usually takes me a long time to gain credits of any real amount while playing Pirates.

I've been known to pay my 21 credits, play the game and come out with nothing. That 0 credits from the game. Then, I've lost 21 credits and not gained anything. I've also had games where I've "won" credits, but less than I paid to play. So I still come out with less credits than I went into the lobby with.

While it's true that they implemented the pay to play to stop people from quitting, there are those that still quit. I also believe that reason for the odd number was to help keep the people from using "throw away" mules from using the game to gain credits. The old version use to give out a bonus for winning for the first time (even against all AI players). So, it was a good source of quick credits for those. Now, they can't utilize POTC unless they want to give up an odd credit or two or keep the mule for a while.

Hmm, I don't view it that way I guess. It's a pay to play game. Pay 21 credits and play. If you shoot just about anything, you make back your 21 and earning 250 some odd credits in a 3 minute game is quite fine with me.

My issue is when you actually WIN, if it is a key round AND a key that turns out empty, you have paid 21, made nothing, and no prize.

You still get credits when you win a key. I think you just don't get the message.

And as I said, I often lose everything in the game. If you get hit and killed in a round, I tend to lose everything. It's rare that I will come out of a round after being killed with anything.
You can't make any headway when you pay 21 credits, get 0 credits.
pay 21 credits get 20 credits.
Pay 21 credits get 5 credits
Pay 21 credits get 14 credits
Pay 21 credits get 19 credits

See a pattern here? For every winner, there is a loser. And most of the time, the loser does not make back the 21 credits they paid to play.

Sorry, but everyone is misunderstanding what I was trying to say in my first post.

I checked again and it's true; everytime when your NOT the host and switch teams in the starting room, you lose 21 credits. You do not gain back the credits at any point of the game. It is permenantly taken from you.

If you want to see for yourself, do this:

1. Go to Pirates of the Caribbean room
2. Join Port Royal or Pirates
3. Now click join on other side; BUT DO NOT CLICK LEAVE
4. Repeat step 3 while you have your credits window open

You should notice the credits going down.

Oh and also playing capture the flag can allow everyone to get back their credits if both sides at least hold the flag. Only in ship battle are there people who lose more than they paid (don't know why so many people like it then).

Well... I guess that's why I dont play ghosts. :( (I know... it doesn't take credits, but I make nothing in mansion so I stay away from it.)

Okay, I just did what you said. When you switch teams, your 21 goes back in and then comes out again. So, for easy math, if you start with 1021 credits, join the game, switch sides 6 times, you will still be at 1000 when the game starts.

Only 21 credits will be charged.
