If you cant buy a black crate in Ned's shop for 150 credits I suggest these players do a daily credit run. If it is geared towards the people who can't buy the stuff in stores, than why are the 2000 credit hats not maze prizes?
I'm not angry with VMK either. Just disappointed... again (still?). In fact, I can't remember the last time I was impressed with VMK. Pretty much all of 2007 has been boring and underwhelming, if not outright sad (closure of in-park VMK Central and Quests, for example... I really miss doing in-park Quests, and not just for the prizes, they were fun to do). I mostly hang around because I like the friends I've made and I keep hoping the game will turn a corner and be fun again. The Trading Card Game has promise, but I won't hold my breath nor have high expectations ... It'll probably be lame anyway... Not once was I angry with VMK.
In my experience it's faster to play mini-games and earn credits to buy crates then it is to go through the mazes. It took anywhere from 10-20 minutes to get through each maze (including queues, lag, loading/moving through the rooms, etc.). In that time I can play Mansion at least once or twice and easily get 150 credits (actually, in two games, myself, I'm more likely to get 4 to 6 times that). And if I happen to win, not only do I get the credits for a black crate, but I get an orange crate to boot. And even if someone couldn't play Mansion (or Pirates or Fireworks - all of which could net more than 150 credits in that time) they could do 8 Neds and have 10 extra credits in the time it takes to go through a maze. So if the goal is to get bulk crates, it seems to me we don't need the mazes.... Not sure how to afford it all ... today is the answer to that challenge. It's not lack of imagination - it's a gift. ...If vmk gives away previously rare items, people will be unhappy and others will be ecstatic. ...If vmk gives away common items, people will be unhappy and others will be ecstatic. ...

You're right, you can't please everyone with what they retire, release or re-released. However, it seems to me if you're going to have an Event you should give away new items or issue something that's been retired a long time that's never been released a second time. Not give away trash magic or common/cheap items.[/QUOTE tha
And if we were to go through that maze and "Congratulations, you have just been awarded a candy cauldron" were to be the message" I am not sure I can count high enough to imagine the people who would be angry that VMK is "just giving away precious rare that was 1 of the few truly high-value items left in the game, etc. lalala." VMK can't win no matter what item they give away.
And I see it exactly that opposite way. It's just all rather non-imaginative, which was delicious' point to begin with.![]()
Black crate: a new item, needed enmasse to be useful, given towards the end of the month when credits are running low, given in a way that EVERYONE can win (after complaints about orange crates being only in ghosts).
I think it's the PERFECT ride-a-thon prize actually.
Exactly.the thing about crates tho, 1 is no good. They are great in numbers for building.
So now I'm beginning to see a pattern with complaints.
VMK is going downhill and not worth playing anymore for those who rely heavily on trading.
The event was a huge boon to those who just started playing VMK.
But if you're a game veteran, it wasn't worth waiting in a host line.
The prizes stunk because people spent thousands of credits on stuff that was in stores first. The prizes would have rocked if they did the event at the beginning of the month and then later sold them for a limited time.
Of all the generalizations of messages I've interpreted above, I think the last observation would have been useful to VMK staff in planning events. I agree with the last part, that if the event gave the prizes before being released to the stores, we'd see very few complaints.
Yes I agree you need lots of crates, and I really liked the black ones and figured they might not be around after Halloween. So that's why I spent 51,000 credits on them. Then they give them away for free. Just my luck lol!

Search for when the alice hedges and rugs hit the stores. It didnt go as smoothly as everyone wants to remember LOL.
The thing about fences, there is always 2 sides. Some people are always standing on the other side.
ETA: I think trading has gotten a boost recently actually. The maze events sure didnt hurt traders.
I'm glad a few are seeing our point of view. It was'nt that the prizes were bad items, it was just they way they keep doing things. I bought 50 white ghosts and 200 black crates during the month while playing games like crazy to get enough credits. Than they retire the white ghosts which made me happy, but than they give them out as a host prize for an all day event. Than they give out the black crates the next day, after I made my purchase. This is what stinks about these prizes, you just made what I spent lots of credits on completely worthless. Next time do the events first than bring out the items for sale. Or give us all refunds!!![]()
woot woot, finally someone else that gets the point. It stinks that the free was released in the store (part of the reason I am low on credits is because I bought bunches) then they are free, that is what stinks. Congrats to you for getting my point.
