VMK Staff have lost all imagination!!

princess, I won't pretend to have any clue of what VMK does :lmao: I just meant I know there were some happy people bc yesterday's prize was the ghost. I wasn't able to participate in the Alice Ride events so I didn't know how things were done, and I agree with what you are saying there, if they kept doing things THAT way then no one would be spending a lot of their credits on something that would be free a week later. I didn't spend a lot of credits on the ghosts, I am very "cheap" on vmk just like I am in real life :rotfl2: so I know I have a totally different opinion on the free ghosts for that reason

I guess they can't make everybody happy but everybody is intitled to share their opinion, right? It's one of the reasons we are all here reading these threads :coffee:

LOL Yes, everyone does have an opinion and can say what they want. I am just voicing my opinion. And all others are welcome to voice theirs. Thats what makes for a fun debate LOL

So with your version of the reason ghosts were yesterdays prize, the staff didn't have enough imagination to figure out the months events in advance?? So they plan the events for the month but not the prizes?? Hmmm, again refer to the alice ride event, where the item was free then later released in stores instead of the other way around. LOL

To give VMK the benefit of the doubt, some people were upset when the white ghosts were taken away and wanted them back. So, easily that could be why they chose that as the prize yesterday. As for the black crates, I love to build and love the black crates so i am estatic about the crates.

Unfortunately, in a game like this it is difficult to please everyone. But I agree, I feel that these prizes are tailored for those who could not afford the items or did not have the time to earn credits to buy.

And for all those that don't like the thread stay off of it is my suggestion. I can say what I want to say, and if you don't like these kind of threads then why do you come to them?? Because you like to voice your opinion also. And that is fine, but that doesn't make you better than me or more correct in your opinion. You do not have to personally attack me for my opinion.

Yes I know it is a game, I am not stupid. I just question what the thinking is behind some of the things that happen in or on the game.
And if my opinion sounds condencending, then so be it, I see you rush to my threads to voice your opinion. lol
And to those that are wondering, I am not in the maze so get your crates, I won't be in your way. lol

Vmk does not have to give free anything, so it is nice they do it at all. Some event prizes are better then others.
Have to put it in perspective, it is only a game, this is the second condensending post, first Hula's Pumpkin patch now this one.
Everyone has different reasons for playing the game, so maybe it is not a bad day for everyone, free is free!

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I agree with that there are some who can't really afford everything. And I for one didn't buy alot of the black crates ( I only got about 5) and will be doing the maze event just so I can get those few more I have to have. LoL

But for those who don't like the prize for today.... Don't ride! It will make the line shorter for all those who want the Black Crate.

fantasy :beach:

Yes you read it correct, I am fussing!!!! And if you don't like it don't read this!!!
Vmk Staff have lost all imagination!! What is wrong with them that they bring stuff out in stores only to later give it as prizes in quests or events? With all the new stuff out this month they could have given some of the new items as prizes in events instead of putting it in the stores for you to spend all your credits buying, only to later have a quest or event giving the item as prizes. Examples: skeleton chairs as quest prizes when skeleton chairs are still for sale, candy corn chairs as quest prize right after they were in the store for sale. Now the maze events with white ghosts and black crates. Boo to VMK Staff for not doing a better job. Make people spend their credits then later give the same items away. Like I said no imagination!!!!
i know wat you mean they sell it so you spend your money only to put it as a quest or host room prize the next day. so ppl end up spending like 10 grand only to be able to get it free the next day. and ppl sometimes dont buy itand wait but when ppl do that they dont make it prize or quest it just not right
That's a little harsh. But I do agree too some extent
yea it is a little harsh both ways, wat he said and also wat the staff are doing. ppl just spend to much money only to get it free the next day

First of all, I didn't see where anyone attacked you personally.
Secondly, by posting a thread on an open, public forum, you welcomed differing points of view.
Third, if you're having a bad day try counting to ten before posting. Just a suggestion.
As far as spending a ton of credits on items that are now free, it's the nature of vmk. We've all been there a time or two. Remember the pink tiki? Red tent? Not so rare anymore, since dreams month. Spending lots of credits to make large purchases for future trading is risky. It's always been risky. Personally, I'd like to see everything released again, so the newer players have a chance at them. Some never will.
We are all tired of the lag and crashing, but that's also expected of vmk. If you were playing two years ago, you'd understand that vmk has since improved immensely on the crashing. Anybody remember that maze event? Ugh, what a mess!
So, enjoy the parts of vmk that make playing fun and avoid those that don't. If the lag and crashing start to annoy you, by all means take a break from the game. :)

Just give it a break.
Not everything will always happen the way YOU want it to.
I didnt get to buy but 2 of the White Ghosts, Candy Corn Chairs, or Black Crates, and I still missed the opportunities to get them through the Maze and Quest(s).
- You dont see me whining or ranting about it. I didnt get the opportunity to get them and I have to live with that.

Also- It's Halloween. You may get a TRICK or a TREAT.
VMK gave us a little of both by doing this- THANKS VMK!

So far I agree with everything delicious and gshawen have said in this thread.

Yes, this is only a game. Am I Real World upset? Nah... But this is another example of the degredation of VMK. One more thing that's going to keep me from playing it... And I used to really enjoy playing VMK. It was a fun escape from the Real World (which, is the point of any game).

VMK has become boring. When I first started playing there were goals. It was a challenge to gather enough credits during the week to buy one or two extra items at the weekend that I could hopefully trade. Because there was the goal of getting retired items. One of everything! That used to be possible. Not anymore.

It was normal for VMK to release things for only a day or two or maybe a week and then retire them, "never" to be seen again. It was normal for players to miss items. That's what kept the trading economy prosperous. It also allowed new people, such as myself then, to use these quickly retired, uncommon items to trade up and get the low rare. Then after I had a few of those I could get a medium rare, a few of those and I could get something highly rare.

I new player can't do that now. Mostly there's only two grades of items out there. Something is either Common or Very Rare. There's little middle ground, and the problem is that most of the people with the very rare have been playing a long time. These people have the resources (be it credits, skills, insider know-how, friend networks, etc.) to get anything new that comes out.

What gets my goat most is seeing so many veteran players complaining about not getting enough White Ghosts. These people should have know if they want something in VMK they need to buy it the first day it's released. And I mean buy it in whatever quanity they find satisfactory (be that 1, 10, or 50). Oh the poor players... I know it's not your fault. VMK has made you soft by not retiring items quick enough over the last year, and when they finally do, you weren't prepared for it!

Walt-forbid they do what they had to do years ago and trade some of that precious rare they're stockpiling to get an item they missed...

To the people that say I shouldn't waste my time in the Maze today? I've already wasted my time playing mini-games over the last month to get the credits to buy the White Ghosts the first time they were released. I couldn't afford 50, but I was able to get 10. I figured a handful for my rooms and another handful for trading. Nope, they are worthless now. Not even on the scale of a buyable... now they're free items. Bah!

Black crates? Oh sure, having a maze/ride-a-thon/event to parcel these out for free is fine, an excellent idea even. If done at the beginning of the month! As someone already said, most of us who wanted them already wasted our credits buying enough for our rooms the first week! Putting the crates (or any item) on sale and then later spilling them out for free in quanity is just rude.

Yeah, I know VMK can't please everyone. There will always be complaining. But come on, to always pander to the lowest common denominator? Keep some fair competition. Otherwise, what's the point?

People will comment on the social factor of VMK. I've made friends here. Disney fans who I now chat and see outside the game. And I'm happy for it! As long as VMK allows players to speak to each other that will always be a part of the virtual world, if that's all others want, great!

But they need to bring back the gaming aspect of VMK. If they don't it's not a game... it's a pretty chat room.

Yep, those two words fun debate..it is nice to be able to express our opinions and even better that we don't all share the same opinion, how boring would we be then? :rotfl: I enjoy reading what others think, otherwise I wouldn't bother to read these threads. And it's good when we can share our opinions without flaming or bashing each other. :grouphug:

To say I agree with Goofy_Bob is an understatement. The trade situation he described is the reality now, you either have very rare or common stuff. I started playing in Nov. 05, and the change the game has undergone since then has been so disheartening. They have been eliminating middle level rares like the green flip hat and Peter Pan hat, for example, while keeping stuff like Green Explorer, Minnie, and Brown Cowboy gone for 2 years. It is becoming more and more impossible to make trades for rarer items. If you really pay close attention to the trade boards, mostly it is the same people trading or trading for the same types of stuff.

What gets my goat most is seeing so many veteran players complaining about not getting enough White Ghosts. These people should have know if they want something in VMK they need to buy it the first day it's released. And I mean buy it in whatever quanity they find satisfactory (be that 1, 10, or 50). This is what I have been puzzled about also. I know for a fact a few old timers from elsewhere (and no, I'm not saying where is elsewhere) had been flooding Contact Us with complaints about those White Ghosts and how it was unfair to pull them, and yet they tell everyone publicly in game no one has a right to complain about VMK because it's free and just a game. Call me crazy, but that's doesn't exactly add up. Guess it's not so fun when the shoe's on the other foot. I am glad they were brought back if so many didn't get them (even though me spending so much on them when they were on sale cost me an extra bat magic I could've bought), but I found the outlook some of the richest players took on this to be highly interesting.

I also especially agree with this:
It was a challenge to gather enough credits during the week to buy one or two extra items at the weekend that I could hopefully trade. Because there was the goal of getting retired items. One of everything! That used to be possible. Not anymore.

After two years of saving and trading and almost $200 on pirate pin boxes, I was able to get a Stitch hat. Now, unless I want to trade what few rare things I have left that I love, I have no prayer of every getting even a simple Snowman unless I can find the time to earn the credits to make a huge credit trade for them. I made a choice and I love my hat, but with the VMK economy as it is now, I'll likely never be able to replace the things I traded or trade for things I never had. Telling people to buy the weekend specials has become mostly pointless because all that's guaranteed now to just last a weekend is the pins, and unless you get lucky and they become highly desired like the old tiki pins or food pins, they're largely only going to net you credits (albeit at a decent profit rate). That's the problem now: the people who won't have the stuff sold now are people who aren't playing now or aren't playing yet, and by nature of being a new player, they likely won't have anything rare. All this goes back to why I said when the green flip hat came out that all VMK was doing was making it harder to trade for things like Sparrow and Stitch, and that is why all items should be available in the stores within reasonable effort at some point. By eliminating middle rare or making mid-level high rare like the red tent flood the game but not releasing the other stuff too just wacks out the trade values of the other stuff not released. In short, it creates a big fat trading mess. And that's sad, IMO. :sad2:

JMO, as always.

Woot Woot you definitely understand the point!!!!

I wont pretend to read all of the posts leading up to this point.

I didnt like the prize today. I did some work on my trailer and some end of year yard work. Took a boat ride and of course watched some football :)

Its a game :) I chose not to ride today. Not once was I angry with VMK.

As i went through some of the amazingly designed host rooms yesteray I thought, "Wow I'd love to build that but (add up crates x 150), egad, that's an expensive room to build! Not sure how to afford it all, along with the costumes and furniture I want to get." Well, today is the answer to that challenge. It's not lack of imagination - it's a gift. I can buy myself dinner for a month and still appreciate free dinner for a week.

After playing vmk for a year and a half, there are 2 things that I have learned you can ALWAYS count on:

- If vmk gives away previously rare items, people will be unhappy and others will be ecstatic.

- If vmk gives away common items, people will be unhappy and others will be ecstatic.

I have learned to try my best to just be happy when it falls in my favor.

Also, when it comes to DISBoards, if you are going to post, you have to know at least some ppl will post opposing views. It's the nature of open discussion.

I didnt get to buy but 2 of the White Ghosts, Candy Corn Chairs, or Black Crates, and I still missed the opportunities to get them through the Maze and Quest(s)....

Krazy, I am low on candy corn chairs, never thought they'd get pulled so fast and didn't buy many, but if you would like a few "ghost.he's" drop me a note or find me in game next time we're on together. My treat (no trick, promise. :) )

Egad! That almost sounds like.... *gulp* WORK! haha
I have not done the mazes all day, until just now. No more lag and much shorter lines.
Personally, I love crates, especially when they are FREE! Woot!

heh, I was just thinking the same thing. I am going to get some crates myself :) Remember everyone crates are only good in numbers @_@ Maybe they are letting us know these crates wont be around after halloween since they are putting them in the rides.

If you cant buy a black crate in Ned's shop for 150 credits I suggest these players do a daily credit run. If it is geared towards the people who can't buy the stuff in stores, than why are the 2000 credit hats not maze prizes?

They did a good job on the alice ride event where they gave alice ride stuff away, then later it was for sale in the shops, this makes more sense then selling it then giving it away.

Both valid points.

the thing about crates tho, 1 is no good. They are great in numbers for building.

Yes I agree you need lots of crates, and I really liked the black ones and figured they might not be around after Halloween. So that's why I spent 51,000 credits on them. Then they give them away for free. Just my luck lol!

that totally stinks! I agree, but that is where the game part comes in right.

I used to collect tomorrowland 8/9 pins. 2 were worth inferno. Then they had a space mountain event and gave them to everyone who participated.

I sold that pin the other day for 13k ROFL.

I had to laugh. I only point this out so you dont feel alone. Games are competitive, we win sometimes and we lose sometimes. Shake it off and try again tomorrow.
