VMK Queue management

Which Queue method do you prefer?

  • current system (unlimited with vmk pass)

  • Original system (no limit no pass)

  • previous system (50 person limit no pass)

  • combo. Hosts can set the limit per event and vmk pass can be used if you make it into the queue

This seemed to be a pretty good debating topic while we wait for the results ROFL :rotfl:

Keeps us busy, and who knows maybe Pete can get his 1000th post.

So do you prefer the current system, the original system, the 50 cap limit, or a combo, a limit the host can set at whatever number they want and also includes the vmk pass option if you made it into that queue?

Why?

I chose combo, but I wouldn't mind the previous 50 person limit without pass also.

I don't use pass very often and I liked how you had a chance to get into the event if you were late.

I choose combo because there should be a set limit for people dont waste their time and sit 400 people in queue and not get in i think it should be set where everyone should get in within the host room limit.

I'm with you, Aengus. I have been to maybe two host games in the past year or so. I just don't click fast enough, I guess. I think it would be great for the hosts to be able to set the limit. VMK Pass? Eh. I don't use it much. Seems that by the time my number is called, the game is closed. LOL

The combo system sounds really good. I voted for the current system however for these reasons:

I like being able to click and get in line and know exactly where i stand. Whether its a queue of 10 or 1000 at least I know where I'm at. I don't like the thought of clicking and clicking for two hours like we used to do to maybe get into a host room.

And based on the heat of the debates on the last host pin trading event thread I can see people complaining even more about the limits the hosts set on rooms. In other words, no limit a host would set would make everyone happy. Unless maybe I am misunderstanding the concept of the host setting the limits. Let me know if I am.

I voted for combo, but my idea of a combo is the line being limited to 50 people with VMK Pass as an option.

My opinion has stayed the same of the Pass since it debuted: it's good in some cases, but in many it's pointless. These were my thoughts back then, and they have mostly stayed the same: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=16340235&postcount=15

For me, it's almost always pointless. I can't usually keep my character moving around enough so she won't get dc'd while I wait (I have too much real life work to do), so Pass is largely unhelpful to me. Forget playing games because luck is you'll crash. I enjoy talking with friends, sure, but I can't spend that much time doing that sadly. It is sad to see that HOST prizes are not what they once were. I wouldn't have gotten a lot of stuff I had if it weren't for me being able to trade HOST prizes for some good stuff. Now, they go for shopping sprees and not much else. I miss the old types of events too.

I know click-click-click the enter button for however long was not pleasant, but I hate the fact that if you aren't in line in the first milliseconds for anything other than teleporter games, you don't get in. Most times too when you got in line (unless it was minutes before close), you usually got in the game or at least got to go through a teleporter for a small reward. Many of us have very very busy lives outside of VMK and cannot simply "get there on time." I can just imagine what my boss or professors would say to me if I said "Can I please leave early so I can get in line for a HOST game on VMK?" They'd probably throw me out of the building. :rotfl2:

I think the old system was fairer to all. If you were an early bird, you likely got in. If not, you still had a chance if you kept at it. Now, the system is geared only towards who can be there right when the events begin, and not even many of them if there are computer or lag issues. I don't like that at all.

I picked the limit 50 no pass getting into the line then going to do some things while waiting away from the computer is good for ya

Well on subject... the original system was very "head-banging-y", and atleast with the new system you do get some hope (before it is shot down with 5 minutes left of the event). My person idea is change events a little, to have a few rooms open, like as ride-a-thons. But who knows? Knowing VMK they will change it tomorrow, and if we like it they will change it again. Plus, I heard some Grace broke a Host room once!! I am sure that doesn't help the Queue  (I could resist, Grand Master A)

I like the new system. Because I have gotten into many more hosts games than I did the old way. I just figure I watch the clock and judge how fast the line is going and if I know there is no hope I leave the pass. The old system meant I had to stop everything on VMK and wait to get into room. Which sometimes took and hour or two. That meant no fun, no credit earnings no chatting with friends. Basically adding in the stop the pass at 50 does nothing does not change anything. You still have to click fast to get into queue and makes it even harder I think to get in.

Can someone please point out to me the advantage of stopping the queue at 50. Other than a thousand people clicking at the same time trying to win the lottery and get in on a second try.

I was very mad with the VMK pass yesterday. I got in line for Lilies final room ' What's in the magical hat? ' Yeah, when it was my turn to enter using the pass said, room cant be entered that way. My friend got the same thing, and im sure Lily didnt close up her room.

I know what you mean, but that is a slightly different issue. You cant use vmk pass on a multi room host event. I am not sure if its a bug or just a result of how the host sets the room in order to hide from the list, but its a known issue that it doesnt work.

If the Host were to set a limit then maybe if they finished early they could close early, wow what a job!

Ditto...and, ditto.

I like the unlimited with a pass for rooms like the teleporter games.

I think I had more of a chance of actually getting into the other host rooms without the unlimited queues.
I have never been able to get into a pin trading even since they implemented the current system. I was able to get in with the 50 person limit quite often. It may have meant clicking constantly, but at least I was able to get in. With the unlimited queues, I rarely start in at under 200 people.

I like the current system. It gives everyone a fair shot at getting in. I remember the 50 person system, never had much luck getting in line but others got in line multiple times. Have no clue to what the original system was.

On the one hand, the unlimited queue is easy to get into....IF you get into it within 15 minutes of the start of the event. I usually play later in the evening, so often it is too late.
On the other hand the 50 limit is fair so that no matter when you log on you get a chance. But you have to keep clicking and clicking!

I would definately say combo because I like the pass system. But I would also like to know if it is realistic for me to be waiting in a line with 500 people in front of me rather than wait and maybe get in. I think putting limits on the pass system would be very effective, as well as doubling the already doubled credits in mansion...

I like the current system. I can look at my daily schedule and see if a VMK event works well with it - if so, I plan to be there at opening and get in line. I know almost immediately if I am going to successfully get into that room. If my number is too high, then I am free to leave the line and do something else with my life.

I did not like having to spend 3 hours clicking to maybe get into the room. I would rather know at the beginning of the event what my chances were and being able to plan accordingly
