I just wanted to make one comment about your thoughts on them changing the odds with the sword magic. I agree with you that it's nice to know that you're not riding in vain and you get a sword pin very often, even if you don't pull the sword out. However, one situation where it can be frustrating is if you ride for a long time repeatedly so that you have a lanyard full of sword pins (and maybe even some extras in your inventory) and then you go use them all at once and NEVER pull the sword out. That has to be more irritating than never getting the magic at all. One pull with a bad result is fine, but 15+ in a row is just annoying.
