I stopped in to VMK tonite, sort of my pre-goodbye and a song popped into my head. Most of you are way too young for this song but for us oldtimers:

Neil Young

"Long May You Run"

We've been through
some things together
With trunks of memories
still to come
We found things to do
in stormy weather
Long may you run.

Long may you run.
Long may you run.
Although these changes
have come
With your chrome heart shining
in the sun
Long may you run.

Well, it was
back in Blind River in 1962
When I last saw you alive
But we missed that shift
on the long decline
Long may you run.

Long may you run.
Long may you run.
Although these changes
have come
With your chrome heart shining
in the sun
Long may you run.

Maybe The Beach Boys
have got you now
With those waves
singing "Caroline No"
Rollin' down
that empty ocean road
Gettin' to the surf on time.

Long may you run.
Long may you run.
Although these changes
have come
With your chrome heart shining
in the sun
Long may you run.

So what song does being in VMK with the closing make you think of?

So what song does being in VMK with the closing make you think of?

VMK has always made me think of.......

"Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got.
Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot.

Wouldn't you like to get away?

Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name,
and they're always glad you came.
You wanna be where you can see,
our troubles are all the same
You wanna be where everybody knows
Your name."

VMK to a tee,
Dreams

i would like to think i could end it on a positive note, with something like "LIfe is a Highway", the song from the movie "Cars".....but my folks suggested this song as a good ending for VMK (they played briefly). I listened to it, it's pretty sad sounding but the lyrics are appropriate--

"Times of Your Life" by Paul Anka

Good morning, yesterday
You wake up and time has slipped away
And suddenly it's hard to find
The memories you left behind
Remember, do you remember?

The laughter and the tears
The shadows of misty yesteryears
The good times and the bad you've seen
And all the others in between
Remember, do you remember
The times of your life? (do you remember?)

Reach out for the joy and the sorrow
Put them away in your mind
The mem'ries are time that you borrow
To spend when you get to tomorrow

Here comes the setting sun
The seasons are passing one by one
So gather moments while you may
Collect the dreams you dream today
Remember, will you remember
The times of your life?

Gather moments while you may
Collect the dreams you dream today
Remember, will you remember
The times of your life?

This is the song that tugged at my heartstrings soon after I read that awful announcement in "Yavn Speaks"

Don't Speak by No Doubt

You and me
We used to be together
Everyday together always
I really feel
That I'm losing my best friend
I can't believe
This could be the end
It looks as though you're letting go
And if it's real
Well I don't want to know

Don't speak
I know just what you're saying
So please stop explaining
Don't tell me cause it hurts
Don't speak
I know what you're thinking
I don't need your reasons
Don't tell me cause it hurts

Our memories
Well, they can be inviting
But some are altogether
Mighty frightening
As we die, both you and I
With my head in my hands
I sit and cry

Don't speak
I know just what you're saying
So please stop explaining
Don't tell me cause it hurts (no, no, no)
Don't speak
I know what you're thinking
I don't need your reasons
Don't tell me cause it hurts

It's all ending
I gotta stop pretending who we are...
You and me I can see us dying...are we?

Don't speak
I know just what you're saying
So please stop explaining
Don't tell me cause it hurts

Those are all really good songs.

I can't think of one off hand. I have too big of a music collection to go thru. But I'm sure I can find one.

Not so sure about Don't Speak's meaning but I guess everyone has there own interpretation.

Yep, it's the short version of the Cheers theme song.

The way in which everyone says, "Norm" when he enters a room is so much like entering a VMK room and seeing "Dreams!" "Jegrezo" and so on. A great place to get away, where everyone knows your na - er - title. hehe

I haven't shared this with many because it is my VERY first ever and needs some work, but I am buried in RL work and will not get it further edited prior to next week so... since we are talking about Cheers, I thought I'd share since the following just says it best for me.(Apologize for the roughness, it's my first, and for the many many friends that are not included.)

Hugs everyone. Thanks for making VMK my Cheers over the last 2.5 years.
Welcome to My Cheers - (it's about 60 seconds long)

- Dreams (who really should not have just watched the above video. Arg, wipes tear....)

P.S One explanation: For those who don't know me well enough to understand one of the early screenshots in this little video, most of my peeps in VMK are Dreams. Every member of the Dream Team - see DIS signature - represents a part of who I am in real life.

I was trying to make a video to this song but I don't have the software to make it.

Green Day

"good riddance, time of your life"

Another turning point;
a fork stuck in the road.

Time grabs you by the wrist;
directs you where to go.

So make the best of this test
and don't ask why.

It's not a question
but a lesson learned in time.

It's something unpredictable
but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

So take the photographs
and still frames in your mind.

Hang it on a shelf
In good health and good time.

Tattoos of memories
and dead skin on trial.

For what it's worth,
it was worth all the while.

It's something unpredictable
but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

(music break)

It's something unpredictable
but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

It's something unpredictable
but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

I saw this thread and this song popped into my head.

These are the Times to Remember - Billy Joel

We walked on the beach beside that old hotel
They're tearing it down now, but it's just as well.
I haven't shown you everything a man can do
So stay with me baby, I've got plans for you

This are the time to remember
Cause it will not last forever.
These are the days to hold onto
Cause we won't although we'll want to.
This is the time, but time is going to change.
You've given me the best of you,
And now I need the rest of you.

Did you know before you came into my life,
Some kind of miracle that I survived.
Someday we'll both look back and have to laugh
We lived through a lifetime and the aftermath

This are the time to remember
Cause it will not last forever.
These are the days to hold onto
Cause we won't although we'll want to.
This is the time, but time is going to change.
I know we have to move somehow,
But I don't want to lose you now.

Sometimes it's so easy to let a day slip on by
Without even seeing each other at all
But this is the time you'll turn back to and so will I
And those will be the days you can never recall

And so we embrace again behind the dunes.
This beach is so cold on a winter afternoon,
But holding you close is like holding the summer sun,
All warm from the memory of days to come.

This are the time to remember
Cause it will not last forever.
These are the days to hold onto
Cause we won't although we'll want to.
This is the time, but time is going to change.
You've given me the best of you,
And now I need the rest of you.

Queen-- These Are the Days of our Lives

Sometimes I get the feelin'
I was back in the old days - long ago
When we were kids, when we were young
Things seemed so perfect - you know
The days were endless, we were crazy - we were young
The sun was always shinin' - we just lived for fun
Sometimes it seems like lately - I just don't know
The rest of my life's been - just a show

Those were the days of our lives
The bad things in life were so few
Those days are all gone now but one thing is true -
When I look and I find, I still love you

You can't turn back the clock, you can't turn back the tide
Ain't that a shame
I'd like to go back one time on a roller coaster ride
When life was just a game
No use sitting and thinkin' on what you did
When you can lay back and enjoy it through your kids
Sometimes it seems like lately I just don't know
Better sit back and go - with the flow

*** these are the days of our lives
They've flown in the swiftness of time
These days are all gone now but some things remain
When I look and I find - no change

Those were the days of our lives
The bad things in life were so few
Those days are all gone now but one thing's still true -
When I look and I find, I still love you

I still love you
