VMK is Listening

For those who think that vmk is not listening, I now believe they are.

I was in a room today and a boy was calling people all kinds of names and cussing as well as he could. I reported him.

In about 2 mins, he was gone and then I got a message saying something like - thank you for sending a call for help. We assure you that appropriate action has been taken.

Then about 2 minutes after that, a girl said omg, so-and-so has been banned.

Also, two times today I was in rooms where hosts came in and told people that everything they are saying is being watched and one time she got rid of somebody for telling somebody else they had to pay to stay in a trade room.

It is nice to hear and see that they are taking action. I too have seen hosts A LOT this weekend. While they cannot be everywhere at once, I think they are trying to make VMK more kid-friendly and a more comfortable place for everybody to be.

Down with taken.....up with inferno.



**One thing I did notice in all the times a host appeared in the room, they can speak in complete sentences. I am so jealous.

VMK considered, at one time, letting all adult players or underaged players with permission (granted by providing a valid credit card) have an open dictionary. Players without open chat authorization would have seen **** every time a word from the restricted chat dictionary was used. Apparently, they decided that this would be too much trouble, so the open chat is available only to staff.

I have believed, Its they're JOB lol. Besides, I reported with my other two friends because these people were doing terrible things, in cafes, rooms, they were like Dancing between each other, getting ' trunk ' and other stuff. We reported them under cover one time. Because they wouldn't let ' White ' people in the room. VMK_Red came, and told them and gave them a good speech. She said if you do it again, you'll result in a ban. GO RED!

That's fantastic they helped solve your problem but explain this please ok yesterday this girl started cussing at me and harassing me I reported her and 2 minutes later nothing happened they just told me help button is for emergencies only it was an emergency she followed me from main street to fantasyland courtyard calling me names and I had it so I logged out for like two hours. :/ I don't know why they did not take action towards it well I hope that does not happen again.

Just about the same thing happened when me and PinkGirlygirl was playing pirates. There was someone playing against us that kept saying "hell" in the game. So as soon as we got out the game we both reported this person. Not sure if they were banned but we got the regular response about we are looking into this matter.

Could be they just can't spell, it doesn't mean they are using bad words.

I should know because it takes me forever to correct spelling errors in VMK and be able to say something.

I think you missed the point. Having a valid credit card number would be used to prove you are a legal adult. Most 10-year-olds do not have a credit card.

OK, so what does being a "legal adult" have to do with the ability to hold a family friendly conversation? Have you ever been to a bar, a sports game, a locker room, some offices, driven on the highway in rush hour, etc?

We know for a fact that some adults can't hold "family friendly conversation" in VMK as it is now.

Rush Hour can be ugly, I can't drive but I was with my mom once. Woo was that chaos. People pointing the third #1 everywhere. Grandma getting cussed at. Dangerous.

Fact of the matter is, they did not provide that ability, so it is really a moot point to pick apart.

After the conversation I had with the guy at the VMK office, I really believe that VMK is making strides to cut down on the language, suggestive topics, etc and having all players follow VMK values. There is a ratio of 1 VMK staff member (not host) to every 110 players (or something like that)...the rest is up to the parents to do their job.

I didn't write the patent, so I'm not entirely sure, but I would infer that if you are old enough to have a valid credit card, presumably you are old enough to not need protection from a censor. I don't think the plan had anything to do with fining people for using bad words.

My guess would be that they scrapped the idea after finding that it tested poorly. Too many conversations with blanks in boxes probably detracted from the enjoyment of the game by those who would not have free chat.

Hence, only staff has free chat enabled.
