VMK Insider tour?????????

Hi all,

Excuse me if I don't sound knowledgeable about VMK, because I am clueless. My kids 9 and 12 play daily. My son just printout out a certificate for a VMK Insider Tour of a Real Disney theme park. Can someone tell me what this is? It says it's good for up to 4 people (since there are 4 of us, that's good). I can tell here it's in the Magic Kingdom, but it doesn't say much else. Does anyone know what the tour consists of, how long it is, if there are minimum age requirements, reservations required, etc etc???

This is from the stickied player's guide -- there are other more complete descriptions elsewhere. Bottom line is that it's worth it, if only to get front of the line access to a couple of rides. Even without that, it sounds like fun!

This Quest information is for WDW.and provided by LoriR

VMK Central is located on Main Street in the Theater building. They have six computer stations in the back of the shop. Each station has a showcase of the available code cards, and the quest cards are there also. There are 3 different quest cards available: Adventureland, Fantasyland, and Froniterland. You can take as many of these quest cards as you need, however, you can only turn in one set of quest cards per ticket. You will need to print out and take the Tommorowland quest with you.

The quests can be done whenever you have the time to do them. You just need to explore the park to answer the questions on the cards. When you think you have them all correct, you take the completed cards back to VMK Central, and they will check your answers. If you have any wrong, they will just say you have one wrong on this card, and you will need to figure out which one! When you have them all correct, they will scan you ticket and give you the code cards for the quest prizes.

One of the prizes for correctly answering all of the questions is a card for a VMK Tour.( Let me also point outhere that a FREE TOUR VOUCHER can be won by playing Jungle Cruise in VMK and getting in the top 10- Mal) Once you have this card(or the Free Tour Voucher), you need to visit City Hall to set up a VMK Tour time. When I was there, the tours were at 1:00pm and 4:30 pm.
They ask for the names of all the people in your party, and you are told to return at VMK Central 15 minutes before your tour time.

Your Tour Guide will meet you in the rear of VMK Central and will hand out a name badge and headset for each person. The actual tour lasts about 2 hours. The Tour Guide gives out lots of interesting facts about the park and the game. You get to ride Jungle Cruise, Haunted Mansion, and Big Thunder with very little wait.

On Jungle Cruise, your tour group has their own boat and your tour guide talks instead of the boat skipper. This is where the Jungle Cruise code cards are awarded. Not everyone will get these, only those who answer trivia questions first.

We then headed for Big Thunder, but on our tour day, the ride was down! Code cards are also given for answering trivia questions about this ride, but since we could not get on, we were all given the cards.

For Haunted Mansion, we went in the exit and in a side door. We were given a special Haunted Mansion Quest card. After the Stretching room you are on your own to get to a Doombuggy! (it was really crowded the day we were there!) After the ride, the tour group meets up again at the exit.

We then returned to VMK Central and went over the Haunted Mansion Quest answers. If you answered correctly, you were given the matching card.

Some of the cards are obtained by buying real items in the park at specific stores. (they are located above this post-Mal)

At this time, you turn in vouchers to VMK central. They scan it along with your ticket media. They'll give you a card. Take the card to guest services to schedule a time for the VMK tour. Hope this helps.

You need to book your tour as early as you can if you are only going to be there one day. They have been filling up fast. When we went over, we were there when they dropped the rope. We were lucky to get the last two spots on the days tour.

Thanks everyone! Do they have any minimum age requirements? My dd is 9, but would be very upset if she couldn't go.

Do you have to book the VMK tour that same day or can it be booked days ahead? We want to take the tour on a Sunday afternoon, but am hoping to book it Thursday night when we are there to see Wishes. Is that possible?

Am I correct that the tour is 2 hours long? I think some posts may have said 3 hours? Can someone verify the time? Thanks again!

The only have an age requirement if the child is going to tour alone. I do not think they have any restrictions to age going on the tour and I would think she is well within acceptable since VMK is geared to 8-14 year olds.

I went on the tour August 3rd at 430PM! Here is how the tour goes!

First your tour guide will give a headset to each person instead of screaming to everyone!

Then you start walking and the guide asks trivia immediately. He/She will show a Main Street Building and a logo that says Mt.Lott Real Estate and she wil ask how much did Walt buy WDW for? The answer is $80,000! When you answer right you will get 500 credits!

Then head over to the Adventureland entrance where you will be shown many original VMK sketches. Then go on the Jungle Cruise where the tour guide speaks instead of a skipper.

You will be asked

What is the first specie that comes up? Butterfly
What park does not have a JC? Disney Land Paris
What rooms are here that are on the JC? Temple
And a few more!

Then head over to Frontierland where you will be shown some more VMK sketches of the new lands. Then you will be asked to name VMK teleporters. Then each person that says a correct one gets BTM Teleporter! Then go on BTM!

After this head over to the Haunted Mansion where before going on you will go to a Madame Leota stand. Here get your Haunted Mansion Quests! This quest is extremely easy! Then ride on the Mansion! After this people get thier cards for correct answers.

After this your tour guide will talk to you a little about VMK!

Then head over to VMK Central where you will see 10 legendary guest rooms!

That is the WDW VMK tour!

Joece - welcome back!! Thanks so much for your detailed report of the tour. I am so excited to this with my sister and my 2 sons - all who are VMK addicts! Do you remember if the tour was 2 hours or 3 hours? I keep hearing conflicting reports. I would like to call today and make my ADR for that evening for 7:00. If I take the 4:30 tour would we be able to get to the Contemporary for 7:00 that evening?
