Umm that performance by Miley was like a build a bear commercial gone wrong. Seriously though I am so glad I saw it. Now my kids will not be watching it at all. Don't know how I would explain it to them what the heck was going on because I am not sure myself. :lmao:

Baaaaaa! Now that is hilarious the build a bear reference.

I just found her while performance so embarrassing for her and the audience. Very uncomfortable. I really felt sad for her.

To those who say Miley has no talent, please watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOwblaKmyVw

Now, in regards to her performance, I wouldn't say it was disgusting. Definitely wild and crazy though! I wasn't a huge fan of the performance or the video, but dang, that song is catchy!

When she does stuff like she did last night you forget the good stuff like that YouTube you referenced. What a shame! She needs a new manager.

Poor Miley is just another child star who doesn't have much to offer as an adult.

Can't sing, can't dance, does NOT have a sexy body no matter what she tries to do, etc. etc. Not ugly but not really pretty either.

I've only seen a few second of clips but she just looked so amateurish and clumsy.

He was great!!!!! So talented!!

I finally had a chance to watch it. He was awesome and I was doing a 50 year old lady dance when he started Suit & Tie! :cool1: :rotfl2: I LOVE that song! I listen to it all the time on youtube, while I'm cruising these boards.

I swear I can do some of his moves with my sweeper as my mic and I even use a dish towel (he uses a hankie)! So stupid. Hey, I count it as exercise ;) My DD14 tried to catch me on her IPAD, it was so funny, she laughed so hard she couldn't keep it steady! But I kind of get confused and throw in some of my Michael Jackson moves http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsUsVbTj2AY

I'm going to try to catch a concert...maybe in Vegas :dance3:

I saw InSnyc when I was 9 months pregnant with my now 13 year old. Best show ever!! My husband was so scared I was going to go into labor he went with me. Lol

I would love to see him solo.

You hit the nail exactly on the head. This is exactly the problem with Miley.

Her target audience that others were talking about--well dd is a teen, she thought she was disgusting. I heard 19-21 year olds talking about her at school yesterday, they thought she was a joke. So while she has the world buzzing, I think she may find that she isn't gaining fans from it.

Now, JT---THAT is class! I got to watch his performance yesterday, we had changed the channel before he performed and DVR'd it. The man is so talented and a great performer. I can now say that I see what his fans love about him. DD has never really liked JT as a singer before (likes him in movies) but now, she is a definite fan. I don't like all of the music on the VMA's (never heard some of it) but he is definitely something dd and I can agree on.

Unfortunately, she has a lot of money left over from her Hannah Montana years so she can continue to flounder without any financial repercussions.

With the saturation of auto tune these days, I'd say most "singers" are as much "artists" as I would be if I did a paint by numbers kit. That would not make me Van Gogh.

Exactly. Beethoven died almost 200 years ago and Mozart over 200 years ago. I ask myself which of todays musicians will still be known and played in the year 2213 and those are the real artists of our time. While I can't say for certain which artists those will be (though I have some idea of a few) I am fairly certain none of them were performing at the VMA's this year.

What a musician sounds like in a studio isn't really what makes them good artists. It is what they sound like live on stage. Do they merely sound like facsimiles of their album or are they talented enough to change and ad-lib and improvise on stage so they don't sound exactly like the album? Do they perform a song differently and let it evolve over time? That is the judgment I use. If a live performance of a song sounds too much like the album I just don't think the band is very good. If the song sounds the exact same in 2013 as it did in 2005 I just don't think the band is very good.

Flounder? Do you realize how much money she is making from that song, video, and appearances? She is far from floundering. Making loads of $$ for Viacom as well.

She wanted to create buzz and she has done that x 1000. You may not like her but you ARE talking about her.

When I recorded the show Sunday it got messed up and skipped Gaga, and ended right after Macklemore. I missed a lot! So I recorded it again and have come to report my thoughts on the rest.

Lady Gaga was phenomenal! And Bruno...all I can say is wow! In my opinion, both of them stole the show. I thought they were even better than JT, which is pretty hard to do. Gosh they were so great :goodvibes I did think Gorillas is pretty racy for an awards show, but no complaints here ;)

I was pleasantly surprised by Drake as well. And of course, Macklemore put on a good show. He made a smart decision by adding Jennifer Hudson; that girl is a powerhouse! Katy Perry was also good, although I've never thought she was that great of a singer. But I really liked the set and choreography.

I was surprised the Best Song Ever won the Song of the Summer. Where I live, it's hardly played on the radio. Based on radio plays, I would definitely say Blurred Lines should have won.

Katy Perry actually has an amazing voice when she uses it. Kind of like Christina Agulara's(sp?) early stuff. You wouldn't know she had pipes!

I loved Bruno's performance. I agree I was surprised he did Gorillas based on the lyrics, I wonder if that will be his new single. I totally agree on Song of the Summer I havent heard that song on the radio but Blurred Lines is constantly playing.

I wasn't surprised after hearing his Runaway Baby, though that did give me a big of a shock.
