Anybody heard of these guys? One of their reps just came to my house. He said since my house is at an intersection in our neighborhood, they wanted to put a sign in my yard and in exchange, they would give me a smart thermostat and door sensors for free. He kept trying to get me to let him in my house to see my back door. Then he wanted my credit information to get me pre-qualified. Of course, there is a monthly fee for the service, but he couldn't even give me a range of what it could be. I don't have any extra money to spend on something like that anyway. He kept trying and even offered to take me for a walk through of the neighbor's house down the street who accepted the offer. I declined. He kept saying it was a no-brainer, and I would save money. When I said he could give me his card and I'd think about it, he said it was their last day in our neighborhood. Luckily, I have gotten good at saying no to aggressive sales people.

Well our local Sheriff's department put out an interesting press release about door to door salespeople.
In a nutshell, they say assume anyone selling door to door is a scam artist. Their position is, in this internet age, it makes no business sense for a legitimate business to have door to door sales people.

Thanks! I guess my gut instinct was right! Sadly, when I walked my dog, I saw a few houses with Vivint signs in front. I guess they got some people to fall for it. I was tempted for a minute when he talked about the Smart thermostat, but I can replace my thermostat for a lot cheaper on my own.

I have had them for many months now- I actually just got it for the medic alert part for my mom and we are very happy with their company. They were just a bit cheaper than the other medic alert companies I have been looking at but I also got the alarm to go with it.

It was ADP, that is who our alarm system is on our house. We have had it for a year. We have never had a problem.

I had these guys come to my house the other day. I had DH go to the door. The guy kept pressuring that he wanted to come in and show us a video of how to protect our home. When asked for a business card so he could check them out and see if it was something we would be interested in, he refused to give one, said they were only in the neighborhood for the afternoon. When we wouldn't bite for his hard sell technique, he told us we should really get to know who our neighbors were.

Everything was just sounding so hinkey, I called the police. They told me they had been having trouble with these guys for the past week or so and that they really were a legitimate company but the way they conducted their sales pitch had people worried.

Yeah, the sales pitch was really aggressive. He kept saying how it was a no-brainer and would pay for itself in a few months. He was telling me how someone could open my locks and break in in 30 seconds, or break a window and nobody would ever see them. He picked my house, supposedly, because we are at the biggest intersection in the neighborhood. People go by all day and all night, AND I have a very loud barking dog, so I think mine would be a thief's last choice.

The other thing that was weird was the guy kept using necessarily in every other sentence, like. "Necessarily, I can't give you the monthly cost unless I do a whole house inspection", and "That's necessarily the reason we picked your house." This, along with a heavy lisp, made the pitch even less professional. I don't like to slam the door in people's faces, but he was very hard to get rid of.

If I get a security system, I will be seeking a company out, after much research, not jumping in bed with a company who can only do business with me if I sign up on the spot like that.
