DH and I are doing the Viva Italia trip in mid-September. I know that we are given some free time in Florence and we would really like to see the Uffizi Museum. Can someone who has done this give me an idea of what time would be good to reserve our tickets? I truly appreciate any help that anyone can give me!! Thanks!

Several of us wanted to go so our guides arranged for the tickets.

Have a great trip!

We just did this in June -- reserved our tickets for 4, which worked perfectly. We finished with the group at Palazzo Vecchio at 3:45, and it is about 2 minutes away. Just tell your guides that you want to be in the first group through Palazzo Vecchio.

Just be aware that sometimes the schedule changes and the free time is not at the end of the day, it is in the middle. On our trip in May there was some 2 hour strike in the morning so they had to change the day around.

I just finished the Vivia Italia trip(ABD Guides Cathleen & Marco S.) and we had about 3-5 hours free time in Florence depending on whether you took the 6:30pm or 8:30pm bus back to the hotel(someone posted earlier that their transfers were at 5 and 7--not sure why the change--but it's a good one). There were two tour times for the Palazzo Vecchio 1:45 and 2:15. The guides split us into groups during lunch, so some people did some shopping before their tour time. The tours get out at about 3:30 and 3:45 respectively. We had some families in our group who went to the Uffizi after the tour and got tickets. They mentioned that the gallery was extremely crowded at that time(I did a day trip on the train to the Uffizi on my pre-night and had a reservation at 9:30am. Lots of people but I wouldn't say it was super crowded. No lines at the standby door--door 2). I believe the gallery closes at 6:50pm, so if you're ok with only having a couple of hours you should be ok.
