I was just curious how people go about packing things like powdered vitamins and liquid fish oils?

Double-bagged in a ziploc.

For things that were "optional" I packed them in our regular luggage in amongst the clothes for padding.

The things that were not "optional" I carried on (put in the ziploc and presented at security like you're supposed to do) even though they weren't prescription meds. I didn't have a problem at all. The things that needed to be refrigerated I packed in the ziploc, then put them in one of the kid's lunchboxes with an ice pack, and carried them on that way. It kept everything cold enough until we got it into a fridge.

Make sure that they are in the original bottles, with all labels intact as well.

I'd avoid gel icepacks - even though they should be let through for medical needs, they may cause a hold-up at security that could get annoying.

Last year I just put meds in our pill dispensers in separate ziplock bags in a separate carry on bag. I told the airlines that we had medications/medical supplies in that bag. No problems at all. We had some large bottles of liquid medicines too. The liquid medicine/Epi Pens all had original labels but the regular pills did not.

I pack all of my dd's vitamins and supplements in a ziploc bag & then I put it into a plastic shoebox size rubbermaid container so that they don't get smooshed. I also use the container for her hairbows etc. anything I don't want crushed.

Pills have labels on the actual pill - powders and liquids cannot be labeled that way, of course, so the original bottle is needed. Don't forget that unidentified gels, liquids, and powders are still high up on the 'suspicious materials' list.

Definitely double-bag the fish oil in Ziploc brand or similar (not cheap-o brand) bags! I had to double-bag my service dog's fish oil supplement with a cheap-o brand somebody had bought one time and it leaked stinky fish oil in her suitcase! Thankfully, it didn't really get onto the bag material itself, but it was a messy clean-up of several items and all the dry dog food Ziploc-type baggies! It took a while and was not fun to clean up.
