Vistana - what are the odds?

What are the odds of getting a remodeled room at the Sheraton Vistana resort early next month? Are most of the rooms remodeled, or are most not?

I did something I am beginning to regret - I am making a weekend trip down there, and asked my parents to join me so they can get away for a weekend. My mother likes the idea of the Vistana because she wants someplace she can walk around a lot, and because it has a separate kitchen. She wants to be able to get up and go for a walk and go grab something to eat and not wake my late sleeping father. Personally I am a little scared of the room quality there - the new rooms look OK, but the old ones look questionable.

Ultimately it looks like we are going to have to do a 2 bedroom suite, although I would really, really love to find a 1 bedroom suite and a separate single room for myself so we don't necessarily have to be too close. But I don't seem to be able to find anything like that that is a resort, has the separate living room/bedroom, and is not on 192 or south.

The Lakes and the Fountains I are done. Fountains II should also be done. Cascades, while not done, were not nearly in as need for a remodel as some of the other sections. So I think the Cascades should be fine as well.

The Falls is currently in remodel phase.

You didn't mention your exact dates, so I don't know if any other sections will be complete by your check-in date.

You mentioned a seperate suite. May I suggest you request a 2 bedroom "lock off" unit. This will guarantee you get either the Cascades or the Lakes. These are also the only two sections that have elevators. They are the only ones with 1 bedroom villas because they can be rented as such due to the fact that many 2 bedrooms in these sections are lock-offs.

So specifically request a 2 bedroom lockoff and you should be fine.

But if you can't get either Cascades or Lakes, request Fountains I or II.

I just double-checked. The Fountains II is not completely done. It started in Aug 2008 and should be 100% complete by the end of Feb 2009. Just request a "remodeled" unit.
