Currently we have 2 rooms booked at ASMu for our Christmas trip (Dec. 19-26)-we have stayed here before and I am not really a fan of the theming at the AS's, but since we need 2 rooms the AP rate of $49 was too good to pass up.

Thinking of bidding for Vistana on SkyAuction to save even more money (about $300 cheaper than ASMu). However, since we would check-in on Sunday I understand that we would probably end up in the Falls section which doesn't get very good reviews here.

What do you think I should do? If we ended up in the Falls section and were unhappy with it would the front desk move us?

I should mention that my biggest concern is my parents: we are taking them for their very first trip to the mouse- I'd hate for their first (and probably lasting) impression of WDW to be a dumpy condo!

any chance of your changing when you are going?

that is definitely on season - the worst season (in my opinion) to be going to WDW especially for first timers....

the parks on and after the 24th are going to very, very crowded...

If you insist - how about changing your reservations to Pop Century - it is newer and in my opinion much cuter - lots and lots of memories - which your parents will probably appreciate more than you will.

Some people hate kitchens - even if they are cooking - something about having a kitchen is not a vacation.

Make sure that neither of your parents feels that way.

If you have a skyauction Sheraton Vistana for the time you want - then go for it.....

please remember that WDW will close it parks - onsite guest will still until the place is packed have access per the buses - off site guest will not.

but I am sorry being at WDW with as many as 125,000 guests in the MK ALONE....is not my idea of fun. this is not the entire WDW parks - this is just the MK!!!

I think the MK is crowded with 40,000 guest.

there is another one that has better reviews on tug and is closer - Cypress Pointe Resort at LBV

We've been in all sections of Vistana and never had anything remotely considered shabbly or dumpy....maybe frayed seams in the carpet but that was about the worst....with the extra room some in the party can stay up and read or watch tv while others retire. Altho we like Disney properties we found the All Star units confining. And even if you don't use the kitchen at Vistana, its great having a fridge for cold drinks, doggy bags, and a multitude of other uses. Vistana is 5 or 10 minutes by car from any of the Parks and from Downtown Disney and from the premium outlet mall, and from the restaurants at Crossroads. And for all those things you forgot, or to have you photos developed while your there, a Walgreens is right outside the entrance. Also, on site bus use comes with your Park tickets, not your resort ticket, so that won't be problem...which it wouldn't be anyway. Just a thought.....It might be a long shot getting a decent skyauction price, or vistana availablity, during your time period:smooth:

I would go with the Falls Section at the Vistana Resort. We stayed in this section the last week of July 2004 and we enjoyed our visit. The condo we were in was NOT dumpy. It looked like it had been renovated in the past couple of years. The only "negative" was the jacuzzi tub was the older style. However, we never used it. We had a unit directly across from the Falls pool. We could walk to the wonderful hot tub there (felt good after a day at Sea World). We also love having a large, homelike unit. Now, I have never stayed at All Star Music, so I cannot compare it. However, I just returned from Disney, where we stayed on night in the Coronado Springs. I would rate the Vistana Resort has a much nicer resort than CSR. I'm also a big fan of having a full kitchen (tho. I try hard not to cook much) and a washer/dryer.

We won our July resort stay at the Vistana Resort via skyauction. It worked great. If you can get the week for $300, you will have an incredible deal.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

We were assigned in the Falls section 2 years ago (checked in on a Sunday). I was very disappointed as it was very dated, though clean. We were in a corner unit that overlooked the pond, but were not anywhere near the recreational stuff for my kids, and I had specifically asked for a unit that was not on the highway....this one was, and I could hear the traffic from the 2nd bedroom as well as the kitchen. As we were staying several days at the condo and not at the parks, we went and asked for a change. They put us in the Lakes section, which was absolutely wonderful, and my children enjoyed the pools in that section much better! Since you are going during a 'prime' time, though, you may not be able to switch....they might be full.

Personally, I wouldn't stay again at Vistana unless I was guaranteed a room in one of the newer sections. In January we will be at Cypress Point.

hth.
