Visiting Walt's original Main Street USA

Technically not a WDW trip report, but I'm posting here since we did visit the original Main Street USA

Our family was fortunate enough, and we live close enough to attend the Marceline, MO Toonfest this past weekend.

We'd like to give a big thumbs up to Tony Baxter, VP of Imagineering.Tony made a presentation reviewing his career, accomplishments ( Big Thunder Mountain, Imagination Pavillion at Epcot, Splash Mountain, Disneyland Paris Castle, Star Tours, and Indy Jones and the Forbidden Eye, to name the biggies), and his overall approach to applying story themes with attractions.
One note from the presentation, Figment was originally green, but when the Kodak sponsors saw him, they said, “uh- everythings great except the dragon’s color” Why?
Fuji! So that’s how Figment became purple.

Also with this being Walt’s boyhood home and having a profound influence on his development of Main Street USA, it was super cool to go through the museum there and see the memorabilla. We also went by Walt’s old home and walked down to the legendary “Dreaming Tree”.

This event is held the third weekend in September and they always have special guests.
If you’re a Disney nut, I’d highly recommend going sometime, although it is out of the way, probably around 2.5 hours from Kansas City.

I am glad that they did change Figments color..........he was meant to be purple

Glad you liked Marceline, Mo.. I spent every summer in a small town near there called Brookfield.. I believe they have an original ride in the park there as well... I loved it a couple of years ago when I saw at Disneyland a store called Marceline confections or something like that..

I love that part of Missouri!!
