Visiting Vero Beach

I read on another thread via a search that Vero Beach's pool is considered "hoppable" while staying at a WDW resort. I believe that thread was posted over a year ago, so I was wondering if that still holds true today.

We're booked for a full week at Kidani the first week in November and were wondering if we could take a trip down to Vero Beach on one of our off days and explore both the pool and the beach access.

Also, in terms of driving time, is it correct that it'll take 75 minutes or so to reach Vero Beach from WDW?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I seem to think the drive is more like 90 minutes..

Sorry I can't answer your other questions.

No. A room key is required for the pool. There is a public beach nearby. The drive is closer to 2 hours.

Nope, but you can always visit the beach...plenty of local public access points. The drive can be about 1:30 when you are going 9 over the limit...the way home is always longer :)

I believe as DVC members that we are allowed full use of the Vero Beach Resort amenities for pool hopping when staying at WDW on points. Call and ask.

Yes you can visit VB and use the pool and beach...assuming 2 things.
a) you're staying on points at WDW, and b) VB isn't at capacity at the time.
It's recommended you call VB prior to leaving to check - but honestly at that time of year it's highly unlikely VB will be full.

Once you get to the resort, show your WDW KTTW card and they'll issue you a temp card which will allow you access to both the pool and beach areas.

Travel time is in honesty closer to 2 hours, depending on traffic.

Thanks, DVCconvert. If it doesn't work out, that's fine, but we were thinking it might be a nice day's diversion (since we are staying at WDW on points).

There are other beaches you could visit that will not take 4 hours travel time out of the day. I would recommend booking at least one night at Vero if you want to drive out and enjoy it. :)

Last summer we visited Vero Beach for the day. I called ahead to VB and told them I was coming. I was staying on points at BLT. When I got there, I went to the front desk and showed them my card (I think key to the world card - don't recall if I also showed my member ID) and they gave me a day pass. It took 5 minutes.

The drive was longer than we expected - it was closer to 2 hours. But it was worth it to me because I wanted to see Vero to see if we wanted to vacation there in the future. Last August the beach was very steep and the waves were too rough for my DD4. So we spent our day mostly at the pool.

Vero had a great resort atmosphere and it felt like we were really "on vacation" there. I got some great shrimp from the counter service place out by the pool. It was a fun day.

If you are really just looking to go to the beach for the day, you'd probably do better elsewhere. I was glad I went.

Our trips to the beach from home are two hours anyway, so while it would be nicer if it was closer, like you, we'd like to explore the resort and see if it's a place we'd like to split future vacations. Since this upcoming WDW trip, we're only planning to go into the park four out of seven days of our stay (we're gonna relax...so we say at this point...), we figured this would be a perfect trip to check out VB.

Thanks again...
