Visiting Universal in October but wanting to avoid Halloween Horror nights

We are visiting October 23-27 with small children. Unfortunately they will be having HHN every night we are there. If we are in the park the day what is the process of getting out of the park by 5pm? Will we exit another way to prevent seeing the scary things? Or should we plan on leaving well before the event starts to be sure the kids don't see anything? Also, I seen on the map the HHN events do not necessarily take place in the Wizarding World. Would we be able to stay in this area any longer than the remainder of Studios?

All leave the Studios at 5 on hhn nights unless you have the hhn ticket and go to one of the holding pens

So you will need to exit when the park closes
You would leave through the normal exit gates

Large hhn props are covered up during the regular park day

Nothing frightening to be seen by the general public during usual park hours

Hhn does not happen on Monday and Tuesday

They do a sweep of the park starting before 5 pm and they will clear out all people that are not in a holding area. From around 4:30pm they start with blocking pathways to funnel you either into the the last train ride, or gently push all to the exit at the front of park. You will not see anything related to HHN, as close is 5pm and HHN starts at 6:30pm. Hence, you will be far away from the Studios by the time they bring out, and uncover the HHN props and actors.

Know that even though the Studios is closed at 5, Islands stays open until 7, 8 or even 9 o’clock. Just check the calendar.

I only do one night of HHN, so in the nights HHN is, that I am not attending, I transfer over to Islands by around 4, otherwise I made the mistake to do it later than 4 and it was crazy crowded, as I was not the only one thinking, oh I will ride the train at the last minute. Otherwise, I work my way toward the exit, doing ET, and exit, then I find something to eat in City Walk before having some fun in Islands.
Know there is also a steady stream of people wanting to go to HHN starting to make later in the afternoon a bit more crowded inside the park, and many head to the Studios crowding City Walk as they come from the parking garages.

I hope your family will enjoy your time in the parks.
