We are staying off site (due to budget) and would like to visit some of the resorts on site. Can you still do this? I know security is high due to everything going on in the world, but there are 2 or 3 resorts we would like to visit.

You will stop at the security post. Tell them you want to shop and eat and they should give you a 2-3 hour pass for free parking. They are fussiest at the Poly and Contemporary as folks have been parking then using the monorail to go to the parks. In any case, they should allow you to visit. :) We met a nice family from Orlando in March, at AKL for a meal. They had obviously driven as they live locally.

If you have park tickets you can use Disney Transportation. I would drive to DD and ride a bus to the resorts you would like to visit.

We also like to visit the other resorts, but we stay on site. When they see the parking pass on your car for a Disney resort, you really don't have any trouble. tn4mickey's advice is good to use the buses from the parks as an option, or even make dining reservations at one of the resorts, and they will have your name at the check in gate.
