Hi all, not long now until our next trip! As we're there for 6 days we'd like to take the children to see some Paris sites too. Its been a long while since we attempted the train system, and never with a buggy!! We basically want to see the Tower, Louvre, Notre Dame, Arc etc etc so how do we do this from DLP? Is the train system a nightmare with a buggy? Dd is 2 and can walk short distances but I assume it'd be easier for me to carry her and dh carry her folded down buggy, luckily my parents are coming with us too on this trip! Also, what ticket type is best? Ds is 7 so I assume we'll have to pay for him, would dd go free? I'm trying to remember what the distance is between some of the sites as we don't mind walking.

Can anyone recommend somewhere to eat near by one of the sites, preferably with a good childrens menu as ds is a bit fussy and you won't see me eating snails or frogs lol.

So many questions, sorry!

We were in Paris a year ago and used the Metro and trains regularly. Buggy's shouldn't be a problem on trains, witnessed many families using buggy's. However, the Metro might be a problem, depending on the time of the day. During morning and evening commute times the Metro is PACKED. Wall to wall people with pick pockets working the crowd. Be aware. Places to eat,
around the major monuments - there are always plenty of small cafes and restaurants in your immediate area for food. Menu's and prices are posted outside the eateries so take your pick. Paris is a beautiful city, enjoy.

we are Disney the same time as you and are planning a Paris trip by train during the middle of our stay so im interested in hearing the replies you get here.

I have already booked a river Cruise. And only really want to see the sights you have mentioned, and if weather permits, then a nice gentle stroll around some of the city.

We could plan to go together by train from Disney if you fancy it? We are newbies as well you see :-)

Hello fellow traveller! How are your plans coming along? I'm not sure what day we're planning on doing Paris, definitely not the Monday (St Patricks day!!) And it depends what day we book BBWWS. We can keep in touch and see if our plans fit with each others. What company have you used to book the river cruise? I did a river cruise down the Seine many years ago :-) Not long to go now, we can book restaurants in a few days!!

yes well all the planning is coming along great. Im a man and i have been left to arrange everything so god help us! I have definatley booked disney, and the eurostar and im still hoping for a BIG HUGE EURO EXPLOSION where the rate goes through the roof and we can get E5 to the £1!!

i have booked the cruise with Vedettes du Pont-Neuf. 25 euros for the 4 of us which i think sounds a good price.

I have no plans to reserve any food. We are poor simpletons and where we eat will require no reservations. I cant afford any of the decent eateries im afraid. So Its the usual old Plaza Gardens, the rainforest cafe , planet hollywood because the kids like the hot dogs there, and cafe mickey to share a pizza :rolleyes1

We also share pizzas in cafe mickey, make use of lunch time specials and eat plenty of EOS and mcDs! But we've never done BBWWS and its our splurge this trip. I do make a reservation at cafe mickey though. I'm hoping do have a DLH breakfast this trip too. I'll have a look into the river cruise, thanks :-)

i really fancy that show but its not cheap and only myself would eat the food. The rest of my tribe are really fussy eaters and the boss says its not worth going just to watch the show and not eat?! i just do as im told.

theres only the one protocol for this trip. and thats for my 3yr old daughter to meet Rapunzel. This is a MUST and if i fail then the whole holiday will be a disaster and i will be sleeping on the santa fe floor if i fail to deliver.

Oh ek, going on previous posts on here Rapunzel may not be the easiest to come by! Are you taking a buggy for her (your daughter thatis, not Rapunzel lol) Ours conveniently has a carry handle on the side when folded so I can get DH to carry it on/off the metro. It'll be the first time we've travelled by eurostar with a buggy too!

What we need now is a fellow diser to come along and give us exact train/metro directions lol. As simple as possible please!

i think we will be taking a cheap light pushchair for her. shes not in one anymore but the sheer amount of walking required for 6 days in disney i think shes gonna need it, and it saves my shoulders as well, as shes a bugger for getting on my shoulders when shes tired.

the only issue with a pushchair on the eurostar we had last time was trying to get off at ashford. The train stopped for like 2 minutes and then it was doors closed and offski. luckily another passenger helped me get my 4 cases and pushchair off rapidly. at least we will be more prepared for the next time. will gather belongings in plenty of time for sure.

the train/metro looks pretty straight forward. we're going to go the train station and speak to an assistant there, from what i have been reading, they are very helpful and will advise us for the best tickets to get.

oh and not meeting Rapunzel is NOT an option!!!!

Quick note - if you are worried about getting off at Ashford, tell the guard who will then make sure you have got evetything off before the train departs. We did this as she laughed as I said I didn't fancy staying on the train as it was going to London and not back to Disney :)

We got on at Ashford last time and it was chaos! We're getting on at Ebbsfleet this time and not expecting it to be as busy but still a rush. I'm going to allocate hand luggage/children to family members (a.k.a my mum lol), I'll get the buggy and dh can get the cases. We've got seats near the door/luggage rack this time, last time we were in the middle of a carriage.
