visiting other hotels

I know we can not swim @ a hotel we are not staying at but I enjoy checking other hotels out. I guess I have 2 ? . 1- can we walk to beach club from epcot & hang out on the beach & rent a boat. Are there other hotels like the caribbean or the poly where we can actually go in to see the pool area or do u have to have a pass/room key? Again we dont plan in using the pools just trying to plan some down time while @ epcot & DHS. Thanks

Yes, you can use any and all recreational facilities (except for the pools) at any Disney resort. You can rent boats or bikes at resorts that offer those, you can enjoy activities like the campfire at FW, or storytelling at AKL.

You can walk into and around the pool area at almost any resort (except for SAB and the pool at BLT, which are gated, but you can see them pretty well from outside the gated area). What they don't want you doing is grabbing some chairs and settling in for the afternoon. A walkthrough is just fine.
