Visiting Once Upon a Time/Steveston post-cruise

Any thoughts on how easy it would be to visit the town of Steveston after we disembark? Our flight is not until 6pm and my girls are big Once Upon a Time fans. I'm not sure how we could deal with the luggage. Maybe rent a car for a day? Is there a location near the cruise terminal?

I think renting a car would be the easiest way so that you could have a place to leave your luggage. Steveston is a quaint fishing village in the South end of Richmond which is the same municipality as the airport so it is just a quick drive. There are lots of hidden Once Upon a Time gems there. Look for Dr Hoppers door and Mr Golds shop winter. The clock tower building is there but the clock tower itself is CGI.

At the cruise terminal.... $40 will transfer 4 pieces of luggage to the airport for pickup via CDS. http://www.cdsbaggage.ca/

Walk over to the Canada Line subway and then catch a train to Richmond Brighouse station. From there, catch the 401/407. Google Maps states it takes about an hour on public transit...

After Storybrooke, you can catch the bus or taxi to the terminal. Also takes about an hour on public transit...

Alamo, Thrifty and National all have car rental desks at Canada Place. I would rent from one of those, drive to Steveston to check out what you want, have lunch there, etc ,then drive to the airport (which is only 20-30 minutes from Steveston depending on traffic) and return your rental car. That way you have your luggage with you so you don't have to worry about tranferring it and you have the freedom to go to several places without playing around with the buses in Richmond.
