For the first time, i will be at the parks on my birthday. What have you done or suggest i take in?

FWIW, I've talked to a few CMs about guest birthdays. Generally speaking, other than a birthday button, you don't get anything free. But a few have told me that CMs are allowed to use some discretion in giving guests birthday freebies.

Most people get a birthday button (you can get them from City Hall in DL, Chamber of Commerce at DCA, or from most of the registers in the stores in the parks). But I personally prefer to get something unique off of Etsy (i.e. Happy Birthday Ears, shirts, etc.) before the trip.

As far as what to do, there isn't much directly birthday related. They used to have parties you could sign up for (forever ago), but they stopped doing them. Most sit down dining will ask if you're celebrating anything special, and you can tell them it's your birthday then.

Personally, I took my son to Goofy's Kitchen for his birthday, and we'll be doing Blue Bayou for my daughter (at her request), for their special birthday dinners. If you call Disney Dining between 60 and 3 days before a dining reservation, you can order a custom cake. I love Disney's cakes, and they aren't totally horribly priced either.

I was there in 2016 for my Birthday. I of course got the Birthday Button.

My present to myself was lunch at Carthay Circle and the dessert party for World of Color.

I went for my 40th this past spring, and I got a button. I got some special attention at the Plaza Inn during my character breakfast and free dessert(pear sorbet was the GF option) at the Blue Bayou. A lot of birthday wishes though, so it made it fun.

My DD wore her button last month when we were there and got a free birthday cupcake at our Storyteller's breakfast and a free birthday beignet from Cafe Orleans. She got lots of birthday wishes, too, from CMs and other guests! Have a great trip!

I celebrated my 50th at DL and I put my age on my button. I met at least 10 people who were born on the same day. That was a hoot!

Thank you for this! I had no idea this was available, but I just called and was able to add a birthday cake to our Ariel's lunch next Wednesday. There are just 4 of us, so it's a small 6" round, and they let me choose the cake flavor, filling, and frosting, plus they're writing a birthday message and putting a picture of Moana on the top. Not bad for $34!

It's that affordable?? I mean, thats a lot for a small cake, but for Disney its not bad lol I may do one for my daughters birthday now.

Do whatever you want.

If you want the chance of people saying HB, get the button. I've been there twice with the button; I don't like the attention, so if I went again for my bday I wouldn't get it. And nothing "magical" happened. Not even during the year of free birthdays when they had special beignets for bdays...didn't get them. That was bc of the lousy service we got at Cafe Orleans. Happy birthday lol.

I spent my last birthday there. I have an AP and when I went through the gate, they wished me a happy birthday. It must have popped up when they scanned my AP because I didn't say anything. Then, I got the button. Once in a while I would get a HB wish. We did the WOC dessert party that night and I had a jacket on that covered my button. My waiter said he heard it was my birthday. I don't know how he knew, as I didn't say anything when I made the reservation. Disney must be stocking me. Anyway, I do recommend the dessert party. Nothing extra happens on your birthday, but it's a nice way to spend the evening.

Yep! And it's really good cake! I was surprised, actually, when I first did one for my daughter on her first birthday, how relatively inexpensive it was.

yes get a button. We celebrated my daughters 5th birthday there and everyone would wish her Happy Birthday when they saw her pin . he loved the attention!!! We had dinner at Goofy Kitchen and they brought her a cupcake with a candle. The characters would also point out her button. It was great. I wanted one!!!!

After getting your birthday button, do everything you have wanted to do, but couldn't. If you want ice cream for breakfast, do it! Cupcake for lunch, do it! ride the train for an hour, do it! Make a list of what an ideal trip to Disneyland would be and do THAT!! What would be the ideal day for me wouldn't be the ideal day for you. Enjoy and Happy Birthday!!!

We we went to Ariels Grotto for lunch, one of the adults in our party was celebrating a birthday. And they gave him a special birthday cupcake to add to the dessart tray that comes with the meal.
