Visiting Kennedy Space center after cruise?

We are taking a Disney Cruise next year and wanted to visit the Space Center after the cruise. Their website says that you can not bring luggage past the front gate. Has anyone gone there after their cruise and what did you do with your luggage? Do they have a luggage check or am I out of luck?

That is correct Kennedy Space Center does not store luggage. The only way I know of is to contract a car service company that will take you to the cruise and than when they pick you up, at the ship, they will take you to the Kennedy Space Center and hold you luggage in the vehicle while you tour. It is costly.

The car service round trip from MCO to the Port would run you about $200.00 and the venture over to KSC about another $175.00 for the day. So if you are a family of 6 you will pay DCL $414.00 for your family transfer. If you use car service it will cost you about $375.00, total for round trip transfer to the port to go to the space center immediately after disembarking until you need to get to MCO or closing.

Not many companies do this but it is possible to find a few that do.

After our cruise, we rented a car to drive to KSC, left our luggage in the trunk, toured the center, then headed to MCO to our plane.

I think the rental cost about $50 for the day.

BTW, after the professional crowd management at DCL, KSC will come as a bit of a shock. It is a neat place to go, but crowd managment is definitely one of their weaknesses.

Thanks for the information! We had planned on renting a car for the day. I was concerned that I couldn't go there because I had luggage in the car. Good to know that we can go. :)
Thanks!

I'll second that, we waited for about an hour in near 90-degree weather for a bus to the back-end of the facility. It is definitely worth the trip though.

Personally, I wouldn't do it if I were flying back that day. After having spent a whole day there and still not getting to everything, I would be very stressed out knowing I still had an hr drive. I'd rather do it when I had plenty of time. jmho.

Just an FYI...

It seems that KSC and the DCL terminal are just minutes from each other, but they are not. It will take you about 30-45 minutes to get there. (can't cut through gov't land!!!)

Like the poster above stated, it will take you a solid hour to get to the airport from KSC.

I'm honestly not to concerned about the time factor. We are not flying out until after 6p that evening. If we get off of the ship at a decent time I think we will be fine. I've been to KSC several years ago and I'm hoping since we are going in January it won't be too crowded. My greatest concern was if they would let me on the base w/ my luggage in the trunk. The notice on the website was no luggage was allowed past the gate. That's kind of hard to avoid luggage in your car when you just hopped off of a ship. :)
