"Visiting" in the hospital...

:rotfl2: Just had to post because I just saw a commercial that totally made me think of this thread! It's for digital prints or something- and it shows a new mom/dad in a hospital room but around them is like everyone they've ever met in their lives. The post man, a cashier at a grocery store, neighbors, etc. The poor parents just look utterly shocked :rotfl:

And no, I wouldn't visit in the hospital unless I was asked/if it was a very close relative or a best friend. :)

I have never heard of the Baby not being allowed in the room during vister hours. I could have my kids with me when ever I wanted & did not have to take them to the nursery unles I wanted to. I did send them to the nursery at nite ;)

Anyways I had lots of vistors. Only family & close friends. But I had my DH, Mom, Dad & sister with me until delivery.(2 Best friends right after) And they came right back into the room after I had my kids. I enjoyed being with them to share the moment. But my girlfriend would not have her c-section on a friday because she said she did not want family at the hospital the whole weekend. She said at least they had to work during the week.

With my first, babies had to be in the nursery during visiting hours except for grandparents visiting hour. With the second they could be out with all visitors except for sibling visiting hours. With the third they were out all of the time even during sibling visiting hour.

Good question. I have never visited anyone in the hospital who had a baby. However, that is only because my Dsis lives so far away. I was always worried that friends would be trying to rest, baby would be trying to sleep, etc.

That being said, I liked having my friends and family visit me in the hospital when I had my DDs. Actually, I would rather them visit me in the hospital than come to my house. In the hospital, others are taking care of you; at home, I feel like I have to take care of others. It was more relaxing in the hospital. ;) Go figure.

I loved having people visit me after I had my babies. Sometimes it was overwhelming when there was a large groupa ll at once or people who over-stayed, but all in all I loved it and I had c-sections and was wiped out. :)

I haven't been to the hospital to see a few babies and those were nieces/nephews or babies of very close friends.

A few people came to see me after my 3rd baby that I was actually surprised to see walk thru the door - like co-workers of dh or the parents of some of his students/kids he coaches. :confused3 Oh well, I knew they meant well and were just excited for us. :)

So true! I had a friend bring all 5of her kids with her to my house the day after I got home. I had a c-section and was sore and exhausted by then. They were wild and they stayed forever. I was so shocked because I thought she'd 'know better' after having 5 of her own. :confused3
