Hi!

We are thinking of going to DL this December. Can anyone tell me what the weather is usually like? Does it rain a lot? If it rains, does the park close completely or just the rides outside? We have been to DL a lot, but always during the summer months.

Thanks in advance!

There will always be a slight chance of rain. Last year was an exception as So. Cal. had record breaking rain fall. When the sun shines(which is more often than not) the weather normally is around upper 60's-low 70's. Absolutly the best weather ever. That is the main thing I miss since we moved 9 years ago,

I have been to Disneyland several times when it was rainy and I have never seen anything close because of it.

We went on our one and only visit to Disneyland in December last year and I can't think of a better time to go.

The weather was warm to cool in the day (some days tee-shirts, others a light sweater) but it got cold as soon as the sun went down so take a jacket (we put ours in the lockers on Main Street when we arrived and collected them when it got cold).

It rained lightly on only one day and this was brilliant! It wasn't wet enough to ruin the day but the park was almost empty.

The torrential rain mentioned above happened in January, but our December was just perfect for Disneyland - not too hot and not too cold. In addition you get the amazing Christmas decoration everywhere and the holiday makeovers of Small World and Haunted Mansion, and until school holidays start on December 17, crowds are very low, especially on week days.

We were in DL last December 4-8 and it rained off and on the whole time we were there! We wore ponchos and had a blast. The only thing that i remember closing when it rained was the tea cups. The ELP was also cancelled on Sunday night due to rain. Even though it was raining, the park was still pretty crowded on the weekend becasue of the Candlelight Porcessional (which ended up being cancelled on Sunday due to rain). Of course the day after we left I heard it was 80 degrees!!!

We must have crossed paths - we were there on the Sunday to see the candelight processional and were very disappointed when it was cancelled.

Like you, the only ride I can remember being closed was the Teacups - even Dumbo was flying.

Thanks for the great info!

We are really trying to put something together for December. We are looking at 12/16-12/18. I know that is not a lot of time, but that is all that we can do right know. I have always wanted to be there around the holiday time. So I am crossing my fingers that we will be able to make it.

Thanks again everyone!

We're going 11/15 to 11/18. I was planning on wearing long sleeved shirts with jackets in lockers for evening.

Will long sleeved shirts be too warm in the day?

Light weight long sleeves should be fine. Sweatshirt type would be too warm. 3/4 baseball jersy type would be the ideal.

We've been to DL many times over the Holidays. It is the best time to go I think! To add to the other posts--it does get pretty cold in Dec. Last time we went, we broke out the very warm jackets and gloves. Even had to go buy an extra sweatshirt for my DD. If you plan on watching the parades and Fantasmic bring a blanket to sit on if you can. You might even want to put it over you!! :cold: Of course of the best parts of DL are the decoratons, but I also love the snow. It's magical!! Have a blast!!
