Hi Everyone

I have been to florida a few times now but have never ever visited a beach, so this year we have decided to go up to Daytona Beach area but am not sure what there is to see and do there, so can anyone give me some ideas also to include things for my 4 and 5 year old to do.

Thanks
Charlotte.

To be honest there is not a great deal to do at Daytona. They do have an activity place with swimming pools, go karts, crazy golf and indoor play area. We only visited the Sports Bar in this place to watch the England game but from what we saw it looked pretty good. It is situated on the opposite side of the road to the Hilton which backs up on to the beach front, there is a Burger King beside it.

We visited Daytona when we stayed at New Smyrna Beach earlier in the year :sunny:

To be honest we were a little dissapointed, spent an hour on the beach, walked around the shops and went back to New Smyrna.

Personally I feel that its a place more suited to adults than children (DD, 7 was bored) but maybe wee werent looking in the right places :confused3

Thanks for the ideas the crazy golf and go-karts sound good for my DS he will love them and of course the burger king aswell.

:thumbsup2 Charlotte

If you have a car. Travel South just a few miles on A1A to Ponce De Leon Inlet, there is a wonderful light house there.
 I agree! And while you're at the lighthouse, be sure and go over to the Marine Science Center and see the sea turtle rehab

then maybe over to Inlet Harbor to eat out on the deck

and jump on the water taxi right there and ride over to New Smyrna, or just enjoy a roundtrip ride ($8 per adult/kids $4 per DAY with unlimited reboardings)

If you're here on a weekend, you should visit the (delightfully!) tacky flea market for great deals - here's a list of vendors:

(And if you make plans to come back in July 2007 for the Florida International Festival, and you can see the biennial festival featuring the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO)! :rotfl: :

From the local paper: Daytona Beach is gearing up for two weeks of music and culture as we prepare to celebrate the Florida International Festival from July 13 -- 29 2007!
The London Symphony Orchestra will unite once again with world-class renowned performers to bring concert music of all genres throughout a series of events. The 16 days of the festival are pack with what are sure to be memorable experiences for all. Additionally to the London Symphony Orchestra concerts, including the favorite "Pops", performers will shine within four series: Festival Stage, Mini Concerts, Jazz and Beyond, and Family Fest.)

Most of the orchestra members bring their families along for a vacation, and all seem to have to great time! :)
