Looking for help!!!! My wife and I are going to WDW in early December and want to go to Celebration. Has anybody included Celebration as part of their trip and, if so, how did you get ther, get back to your resort, did you stay overnight there????? Any information would be greatly appreciated

We visited celebration a couple of years ago. The hotel there looked nice but we didnt stay there. I dont think you get any of the disney perks.
I can highly recommend the Columbia Resturant. It is wonderful, originally from Ebor city in Tampa. We had a car so we drove, its really not very far you might check on cost of a cab, I dont think there are any shuttles. Its a quaint little town, we ate dinner got a cup of coffee from a coffee shop and sat by the lake in rocking chairs. Everything is within walking distance. Not a lot of shops but several resturants.

I am heading down in September and I will let you know how it went...We plan on visiting celebration the first night we get there. There is some great info on wikipedia about celebration too.

We drove down there one night last February. We were staying offsite and had a rental so no problem. I agree that the cab fare probably wouldn't be bad. We also ate at Columbia's and I hope to eat there again this trip - it was really good and different food. There are a few shops, some ice cream parlors and a movie theater. Not really enough to do to warrant spending the night there, IMO. It was nice to walk around for an evening though.

Celebration is nice but I wouldn't say worth the trouble of making special arrangements to get there. My sister owns a condo there. It's very crowded and NO parking. It's nice to ride around and look at some of the BEAUTIFUL homes but that's about it. The town's main street is very small and like I said crowded. There are restaurants but nothing more special then what you can get in Disney. To me walking around the lake at Disney Boardwalk, Swan and Dolphin and Yacht and Beach is a better experience.

If you want to take a cab over, the fare shouldn't be too much, since it's right by WDW. Celebration is, ahem, interesting. I'm personally not a fan; it's just too ersatz for me. I don't like the whole McMansion with 5 feet of yard around the house thing, but it is nice to walk around. There is a lot more walking area than the one lake at the Yacht & Beach Club area someone else mentioned. They have a string of ponds, with walkways from one to another. Just beware attack squirrels - they line up on the walkway, waiting to be fed, and aren't above making sudden movements toward you, to intimidate some food out of you!

The restaurants are okay, but overpriced, but it is a nice walking area. I used to meet my husband for lunch over the summer, and we'd walk all around - it was very peaceful, much more so than the Disney parks, especially since you're going in December.

Cheers!

we go to celebrations every trip..we get a coffe and sit out and just relax in the center of the town,,lots of good food there and places to sit,,you got to go and just drive through the town and see the 3 and 4 million dollar homes,,i think there is a web cam at the celebrations hotel,,its live ,,or it used to be,,do a search and check it out,,

My wife and I go every December that we visit WDW. In 2004 we actually stayed at the Hotel. Very nice but a little overpriced. The restaurants are very good and the snow on their main street every night is a great touch. They also have horse/carriage rides as well as a small train for the kids during the holiday season. We never have any problem finding parking, but you might have to walk several blocks to reach the town center. We are going to visit again this year in December but we are not staying in Celebration.

We did about the same. We had driven our car down and drove over and ate at the Columbia Restaurant. I think in my opinion that is the best place to eat and then just strolled around. We spent from lunch until about 5pm or so and then headed back on property for dinner. Celebration is located just outside of Main Gate on 192. It is not very far at all.

If you have a specific question, let me know.

I've heard it all before, sometimes it makes me laugh.:rotfl2: other times I'm more  "you don't really believe that do you"

If you have a rental car it's nice to drive around Celebration and see some of the great holiday decorations that owners put up outside their homes - also don't miss the Osborne Family Lights at Disney Studios!

Never stayed at the hotel. The Tampa Bay Bucanneers stay there during their pre-season workouts. When my husband comes with us (usually once a year) he loves (and thus we eat there a lot) the Market Street Diner. Food is good and plentiful. Kids love the milkshakes and deserts. Its on Market Street right across from the lake. Enjoy!

One more thing to remember if you visit Celebration. Make sure you obey the speed limits! We were warned by friends who live there that the limits are strictly enforced. Grammy

Good golly - I haven't met a tourist yet who speeds through town! They are all going slow checking out the sites. It's the residents you have to watch out for!

BTW - the speed limit is 25 mph. Everywhere in town. See the problem? ;)

you've got that right! I don't worry about tourits speeding, I worry about them coming to a dead stop in the middle of the road, and then the residents speeding up to go around them.

We will be renting a car for the second 1/2 of our trip. I definitely want to visit Celebration. I read they have a Farmers Market on Sundays. We will check that out and hopefully have fun. I will post our results in Dec.

We went to the farmers market (not very big) - but got chocolate eclairs from the French run stall & coffees from the market street cafe - sat on the rocking chairs by the lake. Very relaxing:thumbsup2

When we were at WDW two weeks ago, we took a drive to Celebration, and I have to say both DH and I just fell in love with it. We drove around the different areas and looked at the different styles of houses, we went to the town hall and got a map so we could better tell where we were!! We went into one of the community centers and got the community newspaper, everyone was very friendly and my dh is seriously looking into relocating - we were always interested in leaving LI and heading south, but this really got my dh thinking!!!
