Visiting BLT

I've read that BLT is on "lockdown"....We are very interested in visiting the resort prior to utilizing our points there. Has anyone been permitted to do this?

You might be able to enter the front door (maybe not), but that is as far as you could go. You need a BLT room ID to gain access to the floors.

Does the card restrict the floors you can go to as well...as in only to your floor and the floor the contemporary resort link?
I have heard access to level 16 top of the world is by escort?

Also is this always going to be the case?
It is fine with me as we are staying there in December...but I'm just curious.

We were able to go during our trip last month. We attended one of those DVC Preview Parties. (We had received an invitation via email about a week or two prior to our trip).

They showed us around and we toured a grand villa, the top lounge, and looked down upon the pool area. The place looks incredible!

They are opening one of the 2 BR's as a model that DVC members are supposed to be able to view something like 5-7PM. If not that then you can schedule a tour of them during the day. I'm sure you'd be able to see more of the resort as well.

According to DVCNews.com, members can view the model at BLT between 2pm and 4pm daily. Non-members would need to make an appointment.

The open house for members at the Preview Center @ SSR is daily between 5pm and 7pm.
