DD and I will be staying off-site this trip, but we would like to tour the BC and Boardwalk when we are at EPCOT one day in August--checking them out for a future trip with the whole family. Will they allow us into the Stormalong Bay area to see what the pool is like? How about the Boardwalk pool? Should we check in at the front desk to get some sort of pass?

you can walk around the resorts all you like, including the pool areas. However, you can't iuse the pools unless you are staying at the hotels.

Stay for lunch at Spoodles or The Big River (big burger joint) or ESPN. Walk around - it's a great place to stay for your next trip!

You can definitely tour around theses resorts. You will enjoy the Boardwalk. Plenty of places to stop for refreshments. There is a candy and ice cream counter at the Boardwalk, a bakery, ESPN club or Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club for ice cream and sandwiches. However you do need to be staying at the resorts to swim at the pools. :flower:

If it's busy they may not even allow you to walk around SAB over at the Beach Club. We went to walk through on Jan 2 of this year on our way to Epcot from the Yacht Club and to show our friends the pool since it was there first stay at the resort with us. We weren't dressed in suits and didn't have any bags wtih us, but they each made us show our ID's just to walk through the area!

The resorts absolutely welcome visitors. SAB is fenced in, but you can walk around and get a pretty good feel for it. I don't think the BW pool is enclosed. You could stop by the front desk and ask about seeing a guest room also. If they're not too busy, someone should be able to show you around.

Just a note that Spoodles does not serve lunch.
The boardwalk area is really great. Did you know that you can boat or walk from the Epcot International Gateway to the Studos?

I will be staying at the BWI the week of Aug. 7, reading all these great postings just gets me even more excited. :cheer2: Thanks everyone :grouphug:
