Visited WDW 6 months + pregnant? - I need your help!!

Hope you have a great trip! I went at 7 months pregnant (with an eventual 11 pounder) with my DH and 2 1/2 year old DS and we had a great time. The only problem I had with flying was that I couldn't quite get the tray to go flat on the way home - not a big deal, though. Also make sure that you're carrying written permission from your doctor stating that you have his/her permission to fly up until such and such a date. If you don't have that, the airline can refuse to allow you to board the plane. The much shorter plane trip sounds much easier than driving.

While I had a great time and would do it again, I have to admit that it was more tiring than other trips, and it was by far the most leisurely trip we've ever taken. Fortunately my 2yo and I both needed an afternoon nap, so that worked very well. Since he wasn't up to thrill rides, either, he and I sometimes would wait for a character while DH rode a few of the wilder rides.

I drove to WDW in June of 2001 when I was 6 mos pregnant with my son. It is an 18 hour trip from my home, and DH and I switched off..this was also my first ever long car trip(over 4 hours). WE did stop for the nigt on the way down, though.
It was nothing, a total non issue. I didn't have to pee every hour, there was no need to stop more often then usual. We stopped every 3 hours to switch off and that was fine.
I think people overexaggerate a pregnant woman's need to go to the bathroom. Yes you have to go alot, but not so it puts a crimp in your plans.
I remember hauling myself out of bed 5 times a night and that was a pain in the neck...but during the day it didn't affect my trip at all.
Have a great time!

Hi!

I went in January 2002 at 4 1/2 months, an dhad no problems, other than checking out each and every bathroom I passed. We stayed at the GF, so we were able to monorail back to the room as needed from epcot (where we prent the bulk of our time), and MK. The best thing we did was go back to the room every day for a rest from about 1-3 or so. I didn't sleep, just snagged one of the nice tent cabnana's at the pool while dh swam. It was relaxing, and nice, and I had my feet up, so I was well rested.

A for he rides, I avoided the obvious no-no's (there aren't that many, but they are he good ones!) DH went on a few with fast pass or as a single rider. I found when he did that it was a great opportunity for me to grab a snack and a drink, and park myself on a bench for a rest.

After years of visiting WDW 2-3 times a year, and frantically dashing from place to place, you actually notice a lot when you sit for a few minutes!

We are going again next month--I will be 5 months pregnant, and again in November at 7 months (dr. permitting), and I expect the same kind of trip.

My only other advice--wear maternity clothers, even if you don't need them yet. I didnt need them til 7 months, but brought a few tops with me on our trip--people gave up seats on the monorail, etc right away for a prego lady, and I got extra rest, which I needed!

Thanks for all the words of wisdom. I think the doctor is more worried about circulation issues from me sitting too long more so than the bathroom issue. I could limit myself somewhat on liquids to put more space in between bathroom breaks but I can't help having to sit the entire time. Now that we're flying he still wants me to get up and walk around on the plane every hour if at all possible. We were thinking every 2 -3 hours originally but when he told me every hour I just couldn't bear the idea of stopping that much during a 22 hour drive. And whether he's being over-cautious or not I'm not going to find out.

I will have to remember that tip on the maternity tops. I can still wear most of my big t-shirts and probably will some - but I just might have to pick up a couple of extra maternity tops now. And I am really looking forward to doing the parks at a more leisurely pace :D
