I remember a few months ago, someone had started a thread of things that they wished had never been taken out of the park. One of the places was the BBQ place Big Thunder Ranch:charac2: . Well, I know it has recently been announced that it will be back in place by April. If you know me, you know that I don't fool around with BBQ. I take it very very seriously. I am a charcoal girl, and don't understand the folly of Propane:confused: . I pray to the:worship: Holy scent of Mesquite. Finger lickin' good is a sport in my family. I am ready to wear my sweat pants to the park, pull up a park bench and stuff myself silly with BBQ!! If , in April you see a cloud of dust and a whirl wind of BBQ sauce, don't be surprised if you find me:yay: in the eye of the storm. My family comes from Texas and has been there since before Texas was a state. We bleed really red because of all the BBQ sauce. So, raise a rib bone with me friends and do a high salute to the chicken leg, let the melted butter roll on down that chin and smile in the knowing, BBQ Mouse:smickey: style is coming.(if you listen quietly, you can just hear the sound of The Star Spangled Banner):cheer2:

I'm still confused how it will work. It seems to be a place to "celebrate". Do you have to celebrate something? Will there be a cover fee that wouldn't be worth it unless you have kids? Sounds interesting to me so I hope it's good.

Nope, from what I have read, it is open to the public. Its theme is "What will you celebrate?" But it is open to everyone, finally a new restaurant in DL!!
woo hooo!!

If you're worried about needing to "celebrate" something, just say it's your Un-birthday! You can celebrate that 364 days of the year!

I'm excited too about DL bringing back the bbq. I LOVED eating at Big Thunder Ranch. Didn't they serve the food out of the wagons or something like that? I was just a kid at the time, but I remember the finger lickin' good food and cole slaw. I can't wait for Celebration Roundup!

You're killing me!
We did love the Big Thunder BBQ, and I hope it is similar when it reopens.

YAY for BBQ! I've been excited about new food-ness in DL too..

I love sloppy BBQ saucey food... Yummm...

I wonder if they will have like fiddle players maybe the Billys or somebody playing? Just have a real fun Ho down!

The Billys did play there, I believe before they moved into the Horseshoe and also when Woody's Roundup was going on in there. But I imagine they'd put Farley out there, since he is kind of a traveling fiddle player.

I know a little place outside San Antonio that has someof the best Texas BBQ you can imagine. Would be nice to see.

I too, am looking forward to this BBQ! I am hoping that it will be in place before April 04. For my plan is to leave, unless I can stay longer, Anaheim on the 4th of April.

When I was little , we were driving through Texas to go to Dallas from California. We stopped in a little speck of a town called Star. It had one gas station that was also the post office run by a real Uncle Jesse. In the gas station they had a lunch counter that served the BEST bbq. I was 12 and I still remember how good it was.
Plus my grannie makes killer bbq beef ribs. No self respecting Texan would settle for anything less , she is awesome. She is 83. ( I love my Grannie)
So, DL has some big boots to fill. But I have faith, you kind of cant mess up meat on a fire with some sauce right?
Cant wait Cant wait!!

Ooh, my mouth is watering already over all of this BBQ talk! I want some NOW! Please. :)

They do have BBQ ribs at Taste Pilot's in DCA. I've never had them, but they sure look good! Anyone tried them before?

Oh that would be neat, Farley is such a nice guy!!! And his SIL Shauna rocks! :) She's the best pin trader ever. I love those guys. :)

They are good!!!! My BFF has Celiac's so instead of getting the gluten free bun she got ribs once. I tried them and oh man....DBF got them the next day. LOL
