I know that there has been many many questions regarding visa's on here before....not that I thought I would ever be the one asking!!!

I am getting married in Sep and one of my guests has just phoned in a state saying that they have a criminal record for some pathetically small crime they commited 8 years ago - now they have been to Orlando since (about 4 years ago) and just filled in the green waiver form, well there partner completed the form and so he never saw the criminal record question and was allowed into the States no questions asked.

Well he was with friends last night and he has now found out that he needs the visa and he is in a PANICK that he will a. be refused if he doesn't get the visa or b.not get the visa back in time.

So here is my question - does anyone know after you have had you're appointment with the embacy how long it is until you're visa is issued and when you get you're passport back

and when you go thru immigration in orlando exactly what information comes up when they scan you're finger prints

He is so concerned that as he has been in before on the green waiver that it will make him look dishonest in the 1st place!

Any reassurance or advise that I can pass back would be so so so appreciated!

As from August 1st you can do it online so if there are any problems i'm sure they'll let you know then, which then gives him a month to go to embassy if required

I've heard of similar tales, providing the crime isn't too bad he should still get a visa.

However I've heard that they can sometimes hand out a 1 year one only if he has "lied" in the past. (they won't listen to the partner excuse)

So he should be OK but best to get a move on if he wants to travel in Sep.

Well after a couple of hours of aahing and umming over whether he has a criminal record we finally have it confirmed that he has got one,(the thing it was over was so tiny I am REALLY suprised) phoned up the visa place and they have said that the earliest appointment is mid july  and it can take between 5 and 8 weeks to get an answer      - I just hope that the answer will be recieving a passport with visa and not just a yes that he is allowed a visa and now we will take another 8 weeks to issue it.

So fingers crossed it gets back in time or the kids will be distraught!!!!

Mid July? Was it London that you phoned or the Belfast one? I phoned a couple of days ago and I have an appointment for 1st July, but had the option of 30th June or even earlier! 3 of my future workmates (we're going to work in Disney so need a visa) all got appointments for 1st July, another one got one for 2nd July. They have told us to allow 5 days for our passport and visa to come back to us.

If possible use belfast as it's much quicker and less formal.
I was in there for 40 mins, and had the Visa 2 days later.

When i went to london previously i sat there from 10am-5pm, the Visa also took 7 weeks to arrive, they have a HUGE backlog with London being most popular.

If you do have any appointment at London you should be able to change it to any available dates in belfast.

Can anyone go to Belfast? When we phoned they said that you had to be a living in Ireland!:worried:

My niece needed a visa last summer as she was exceeding the time limit, she went from EDI as well, no problem.
