Has anyone gotten 2% on their Disney Premier card when charging the cost of the DCL cruise vacation? The printed info says 2% at "most" Disney locations. Doesn'y specifically mention cruises.

Yep, 2%. And that includes purchasing onboard account funds pre-cruise (pre-paying gratuities plus extra).

Enjoy your cruise!

Says the booking must be made through DCL directly. Do you keep the 2% reward (vs 1%) if you transfer out the booking to a TA?

Yes. When you have a TA, all the payments 'should' be going to DCL directly, but through the TA's website, etc. Both our cruises were booked through Dreams Unlimited and we got the 2% back.

Lol, it's something to be excited about when you're paying in full--oh good, I've just earned 2% of it to use on the ship! We saved our Disney Visa Rewards for 18 mths and added it to our account at guest services--it covered 90% of our excursions. The DU OBC and the OBB OBC covered our gratuities--so we were just left with our shopping and drinks bill--which wasn't too bad!

That sounds awesome. I like you can stack the TA credits with the 2%.

For full payment, I do get more mileage out of my Amex though. Generated enough points last summer to pay for 5 flights to Vancouver for our Alaskan cruise on Wonder.

Why not just book though Costco where you can get a 9% discount on the cruise, 3% back on the Costco Visa, plus another 2% back when you have a Costco Executive membership. For a total of a 14% discount on Disney Cruises.

As others have started getting at, there are LOTS of better options than having, and using, the Disney Visa. I know there are intangibles that you can't account for as I'm sure some people love whipping out Cinderella Castle to pay for things etc, but in terms of numbers and rewards, there is no situation where this is the best value card for any transaction (factoring in the annual fee) but to each their own. The most obvious option would be the Citi Double Cash where you earn 2% on every purchase which doesn't have any redemption restrictions. You earn more money to then still use at Disney or for airfare.

BUT this isn't a credit card forum so I'll stop there. At the end of the day, do what you feel is right for you. Enjoy your cruise! Mine is in 560 days.

chase doesn't give you an itemized list of what you earned from each transaction ... but it appears that the 2% rewards points from paying for the cruise AND for all onboard purchases get the 2%.

We save up our rewards to help pay for any airline tickets. Why use your rewards at a place (Disney) where you can earn 2% vs. 1% by using your VISA :confused3

We have had the Disney Chase Visa card since it started. We've been offered each year the upgrade to Disney Premier Visa card. Does anyone know if it is worth changing to the upgrade? $49 annual fee and 2% back. Thank you!

It depends on your spending habits and if you have another card that offers better rewards, or if you want to get a different card that offers better rewards. You need to look at how much you spend annually in the categories which earn 2% on the premier card. Do you spend enough in those categories so the additional 1% cash back makes up for the annual fee.

I have 3 different Chase Visas and I rotate through them depending on which one will give me the best reward. My Disney Premier Visa is what I consider to be my primary card and I'm happy with it even though I know I could get a card from another bank that would offer me better cash back. I spend enough on the Disney Premier Visa in the 2% categories to more than make back the annual fee. I also have the Chase Freedom card and use that one mainly for the 5% bonus categories each quarter.

It depends upon how much you spend. We put almost everything on the Disney Visa (except for the 5% back Discover quarterly promos), so we have the Premier. The 2% back categories are gas, groceries, and all things Disney. You need to have $5000 worth of expenses in the 2% category to get $100 back...since you would get $50 back on that normally, that extra $50 is the amount that would cover your annual fee, and anything after that is 'free' money. Of course if you're putting Disney cruises on your Disney Premier...you'll reach that amount pretty quickly. :rotfl2:

I paid for my last cruise with my Visa and about 2400 of the next one. However, for the balance I'm saving my $ and going to Target, buying Disney gift cards with my red card (5% off), paying them off immediately. That way on top of the 10% off I got for OBB, I'll get 5% off what I still owe.
I also am saving my Disney reward dollars to use on our big 2021 whole family WDW trip.

So sorry What is OBB? :ssst:
OBB means On-board Booking. If you book another Disney Cruise while you are on a Disney Cruise, you get a 10% discount on the cost of the new cruise (subject to blackout dates, which are typically major holidays, and not applicable to Concierge rooms).
