Visa Meet N Greet

This might be a silly question but I like to pay in cash during vacation that way I can keep track of my spending/budget better. Can you get a discount by showing your visa and paying cash...or do I have to charge my purchase?

I was thinking the same thing and in the same situation. So now, thinking that if we have the occasion to use the card and get the discount, I'm going to go ahead and use the card then have an envelope (back at the hotel) with me to put that amount of cash in that I put on the card. Then, when I get home, if I end up using the card, I'm going to deposit the cash and send a payment to my Disney Visa right away.

Thanks for this thread!

I completely forget to do this every friggin time we go to DL! And we have annual passes AND the Visa! LOL

We are going again next weekend, so I am going remember to get our free picture each day! YAY! :thumbsup2

It seams to be a bit more laid back in DL than WDW. We went twice last week. The cm joked about not telling guests, but then told us. We saw Pluto one day and then chip and dale the next. I have two cards, so we got two free photos each day.

Is it one free photo per card per day? Or is it per vacation I guess? Thanks!

Per day per card. So if you have a card and your spouse has a card (even if its the same account) you can take 2 pictures and get two free photo cards each day of your trip. We're lucky if we make it to the meet and greet more than once per trip though, much less use both cards.

Wow, we thought it was a one-time deal and that was it. Once per day?! WOW! And to think, we've had this Disney Visa for over 3 years and have only done this once...

If you're like me, and you don't use the card much, you'll occasionally get special offers. Right now I'm in the middle of a 3 month promoton where they're giving me 5% back (5 times normal point value) on grocery store, dining and gas purchases. So I'm using the card a lot right now... but come July, when the promotion expires, I'll be back to my Capital One card. ;)

I have had my Disney Visa since they started- my card says "member since Day 1"!
I use my Visa to pay for EVERYTHING! I have used the rewards to pay for food and souveniers for many DL and WDW trips and it even paid for 1/2 our cruise (a 3-day one) last November. The key is to always pay it off and never pay interest. I have never paid a dime. I know there are better cards out there, but for us, it works.
We are headed to DL in August and have racked up enough for our food and "stuff" for 4 days.
My questions is about the promotions (5% back). I wonder how they choose who is getting it. I had one of those promotions last year, but don't have the one you are referring to. I wonder if you can call and ask for it? I think I will try today and if I am successful (more$ for trip) I will post and let everyone know.

Same with us!!! I love my Disney Visa & we always have plenty of reward dollars to spend on our trips. We usually give the rewards card at check in & then they use that to pay for all our room charges. This way, we get all our food & souvies paid for! Also, have enjoyed getting the free meet & greet w/photo as well as the discount on purchases over $50. That discount applies in the local Disney stores too.:woohoo:

I don't know the exact formulas, but it's something that Chase does to encourage people to use their cards more. It used to be that we primarily used our Amazon card for purchases (also a Chase card) and every so often we'd get a 'promotion' like the 5% back on the Disney card, which we used infrequently. Then we'd switch to the Disney card for a few months, and lo and behold, by the time that was up the Amazon card would have a similar promotion.

All of these promotions come with an individualized code that we have to use to activate the promotion. My guess is as good as yours, but clearly it's a targeted promotion, just like the individualized Disney discount codes that sometimes go out for hotels.

You then get a voucher for a free 5x7 print, and you can get *any* print from your PhotoPass, it does not have to be the one you had taken with their characters. QUOTE]

Just wanted to add that this has not been our experience everytime. I think it depends on the CM who is helping you when you get your print. Sometimes they let us have any print on our photopass card, other times they tell us we can only get one from the meet and greet.

Thanks for the info! We will definately try to take advantage of this. Hopefully the lines won't be too long.

Are there different characters for each meet & greet or is it typically the same rotation of characters? ie, Mickey on Monday, Woody on Tuesday, Chip & Dale on Wednesday then Mickey again on Thursday?

Sorry but until they change it it is Chip and Dale or Pluto. In 1/2 hour rotations. They used to have others but have cut back. The CMs keep saying that if we want it changed we need to tell them at Guest Services or City Hall. I guess very few complain because it's been the same for years now.

You will be given 1 coupon good for one free 5 x7 for each different DV card you have. There is an expiration on the coupon-usually good for at least a few months. When we are there in the a.m. we always try to get these. I usuallly end up with quite a stock pile of the coupons to use before they expire (we have AP and go often).

I have had good luck using them for any 5 x 7's but occasionally you'll get a "I'll let you do it this time...." Especially when they are training new PP CMs.

Another perk you can get is 1/2 off a stroller rental. They used to be free, but 1/2 off is better than nothing. ;)

What I like about the DV MnG is you get as much time as you want with the characters. Autographs, pictures, being silly, etc. It's a nice perk.:goodvibes

We have done this a few times on previous visits during peak season and we have never had to wait in line. In fact we have been the only family taking advantage of it whenever we have visited. We were able to spend a lot of time with the characters, Chip and Dale on our visit, and take plenty of pictures and have a great time. I highly recommend it.

For the Visa Meet n' Greet - do they let you know in advance who the pics are with?

Last year in WDW, we happened upon the Meet n' Greet picture location and there was a fairly long line waiting for the free pictures. We were at that spot in the afternoon where we were just plain worn out, and thought if we knew who the picture was with, it might be worth it. But the CM wouldn't say who the pictures were with. Just curious. Thanks!

According to a CM I asked about this.......Part of the reason they won't say is because they change out quite often and if CM tells you that Mickey and Pluto are in there and you get there and Mickey has been replaced by Donald, you might be upset if you were in line only because she said Mickey.

According to our pictures for our November, December and May visits Disneyland's Disney VISA Meet and Greet were Chip, Dale and Pluto. Sometimes it was just Pluto, Chip/Dale always appeared together, but seemed to take breaks more often.

A tip: At WDW you can't peek because it's inside a separate room, but you can ask people as they come out who they saw. At Disneyland you can actually peek, but you do have to technically break the rules.....the Meet and Greet takes place behind a building and you line up next to the building....but there is a walkway behind some planters to the right of the line.....if you scoot over there and walk quickly up to the end of that walkway you'll be far enough away from the building wall to peek and see who's there. But be quick before the CM figures out what you're doing and calls you back. Just saying. Perhaps a more honest way is to wait and ask the people leaving who they saw, because to leave you walk right past where people would be standing in line....assuming there was an actual line. Each time we went at DL there was often no one in line, or only two families at most. At WDW it was usually a much longer line.

Do keep in mind that even if you peek, or ask someone who they just saw, the characters can change out quickly. We got in our two family ahead of us line because we peeked and saw Chip and Dale were there, but sadly we watched them walk away before we got to go in.....so we went away for about 20 minutes, came back and they were back...and the line didn't exist, lol.

It's disappointing that the characters don't switch out day to day or even month to month, but we love Chip & Dale (my kids are twins too so the characters always make a big deal out of it) so we keep going. I've often thought they do that so that you don't go every day and they have to give you free prints, maybe they're hoping since it's the same characters you'll only do it once a trip or once in a lifetime, lol.

Now...one thing that has happened to us quite often at both WDW and DL...when you go to get your free print you are SUPPOSED to only be allowed to pick from the photos at the actual VISA meet and greet, but almost every time we've been allowed to get our free print of anything on our photopass card. So if you're not thrilled with the M&G photos, well, keep that in mind. I can only remember one CM who told us only M&G photos....we had done the "any photo" so many times that we were a bit surprised and choose to skip it....then we went back later and got a different CM and any photo we wanted, lol. At WDW we always get the Photopass CD so it's often not even worth waiting in their long lines for any print because for just a few pennies we can get a print made off our CD later....but in DL we don't get the CD every trip because there just aren't always enough Photographers around, so getting that "any print" is nice.

Us too! I have yet to get the picture at WDW. We always get the CD there too. But I love having the private time with the characters. We didn't do it last year but the year before we did and my DM cut up with the characters and we got some great photos. I think we had Pluto, Goofy, AND Mickey. Worth the short wait.

I do however get the DLR CD often since we have AP and go enough to get enough PP pix to made it worth it's while. Plus I share it with a few friends. :goodvibes That's why I typically end up with a few coupons to use close the the expiration date. I try to get prints made with enhancements they don't offer online. Like some of the autographs, etc.
